If you're going to be visiting Fredericksburg, Tx anytime soon you must stop and eat in the restaurant. I have two words for you, Jager Schnitzel!! My meal was beyond anything I ever experienced. The service was amazing and the staff super helpful. I'm ready to go back!

We're locals who keep returning to Der Lindenbaum for absolutely the best authentic German food in Fredericksburg. We love it! The jaeger and paprika schnitzels are great, and so is the Hungarian goulash. Delicious red cabbage and cucumber salad. Wonderful desserts. Excellent service and very reasonable prices. Nice, old-fashioned decor and atmosphere. Street parking. American Express is the only charge card they take; otherwise pay with cash.

Needed a good beer and wanted to try something localish. Fredricksburg is known for it's German roots. Can't pass up a chance to grab an Oktoberfest selection draft. Had plenty of food packed in to-go containers. Quantity per serving is good. Wall decor is nice touch. Good atmosphere.

An historic building on the corner of corner of West Main and Orange Street in Fredericksburg, Texas serving authentic Southwestern Tex-Mex and German food to all that gather to celebrate our motto here everyday! Eat Well & Enjoy Life! Willkommen!
We had lunch at Altdorf on a cold, rainy day when eating in the biergarten was impossible (thereby taking away their main draw). We nevertheless enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the service and the beer. Their extensive remodeling was done extremely well. Very pleasant place to eat. The schnitzel, the brats, the German potato salad and especially the red cabbage were delicious. Finally, the strudel topped with ice cream was outstanding.

The restaurant is busy and bustling, and obviously quite popular. Decor is nondescript. The lunch specials are inexpensive and include ice tea. We had Jagerchnitzel and German chicken salad. The food is good but not great, although the price is right. Overall, the lunch experience is unremarkable.

Small restaurant so you would hope service would be good. Food is not great. There are better options in Fredericksburg where staff is friendly and makes recommendations for good restaurants. Ottoâs server recommended duck schnitzel as so good. It was bland, heavily breaded and accompanied by tasteless sides. You can find better ambiance, service, selection in town.
