It is situated on the Ouachita River, across from the neighboring city of Monroe. The two cities are often referred to as the Twin Cities of northeast Louisiana. Its population was 13,065 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Monroe Metropolitan Statistical Area. The mayor, Dave Norris, a Democrat, has served since July 1, 1978, and was unopposed for a tenth term in the municipal election in 2014.

Had lunch at the Kuntry Diner, and the food was GOOD! Plate lunch specials every day, along with some standards. I have the chili dogs with fries and drink, and my partner had the hamburger. Both were prepared quickly and deliciously. The chili was delicious, and I found myself wanting a THIRD chili dog (I resisted the urge!). Choice of 3 types of fries were offered too. My partner loved the hamburger as well. Judging from the line forming as we were leaving, it is a quite popular place for the locals, with many taking advantage of the lunch plate specials.Service was friendly, prices were in line with others in the area, and the taste was great. You won't go wrong with a visit here.

If you want down home southern cooking this is the place for you! Its good ole soul food that sticks to your ribs! If you leave hear hungry its your fault! Try this place you want be disappointed! Tip: Be sure & call to make sure they are open before making the trip! The Monroe location is open all day but the West Monroe location only opens at lunch time (I think??)!!

The menu is limited. I ordered bacon, ham, eggs and coffee. The coffee was fantastic, and the ham was great. The eggs were not seasoned well - if at all. The bacon was very thin and not very flavorful. Service was terrific. With all the great reviews, I expected more. Maybe this is a great breakfast for Monroe, though. I was really happy that they had WiFi.

Coney Island is located across from the "Old" West Monroe City Hall & Jail. Just a simple white building that has a sign that simply reads Coney Island.The building is not much bigger than a bus and the tables are small. However once you order your hotdog or Chili dog made just the way you want it, nothing else matters. Pick out your little bag of chips a da drink and get after it. You will be back!

Been awhile since we have been to Ole South. The breakfast was outstanding. We had the PawPaw special, two eggs, bacon or sausage, grits biscuits and I ordered a cup of white gravy on the side. Service was fast and everything was cooked perfect. The ice tea was perfect also. Will be back soon!
