Kumasi (historically spelled Comassie or Coomassie and usually spelled Kumase in Twi) is a city in Ashanti Region, and is among the largest metropolitan areas in Ghana. Kumasi is near Lake Bosomtwe, in a rain forest region, and is the commercial, industrial and cultural capital of Asanteman. Kumasi is approximately 500 kilometres (300 mi) north of the Equator and 200 kilometres (100 mi) north of the Gulf of Guinea. Kumasi is alternatively known as "The Garden City" because of its many beautiful species of flowers and plants. It is also called Oseikrom (Osei Tutu's town). Nilsson was fantastic tour guide. Due to concerns that we would not be able to get a train back from Ghent, we wound up going to Antwerp instead. Bilson was so knowledgeable and fun. She adjusted the tour to my interests which was pretty much to experience as much as possible. I know I saw more in a few hours with Bilson than I would have seen in an entire day with most guides. I highly recommend him tours!
