Thereâs not much I can add to some of the recent reviews. An old greasy spoon cafe has been lovingly transformed into an outstanding location for a healthy and delicious breakfast (with lunch items served from noon). Charming friendly staff and beautifully prepared food (photos attached) Highly recommended

A modern restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and evening meals,it is perfect for a romantic meal for two, or spacious enough for dinner for forty. Tastefully decorated by local artists and fully wheelchair accessible throughout. Located at the top of the
We were in Hailsham for just one night and having looked at the most recommended eating establishments, chose Callenders and were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by Rachel who looked after us all evening and assisted with some of the menu choices. Callenders offers a varied a la carte menu as well as daily specials on a blackboard. We had three courses of delicious, well prepared, well cooked and well presented food (there were three of us and we all chose different dishes). A nice touch is that all dishes on the menu are accompanied by a spefcified potato but Rachel said we could chose any type of potato to accompany our main dishes which we did. Another plus point is a reasonable wine selection at very reasonable prices. Raachel was attentive, efficient and most charming which helped make the whole vexperience most enjoyable. If we are in the vicinity again, we shall most definitely revisit Callenders..Hello Voyage28. Many thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely review for us. We are all so glad that you chose to visit us on your trip to Hailsham, and shall pass on all your kind comments to the staff involved. We work hard with all our local suppliers to provide good wines and great ingredients so that we can provide top quality food and drink at reasonable prices and we are so glad that you appreciated all the hard work put in by the team.We really do hope that you will visit Hailsham again soon and hope that we can look after you again. Until then, we wish you all the best and happy dining.Kindest regards from all the staff at Callenders

Independent modern British cafe-restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner plus great coffee, wines and cocktails. We source our ingredients from as local as possible and everything is cooked from scratch by the chef-owner.
16 Aug Skylark Eastbourne. Visited on a Friday evening for dinner and glad we booked as the restaurant was full. We were delighted to find a good range of cocktails on the menu so we each enjoyed one while we considered the menu, which is short and full of local and seasonal ingredients. We both found it very easy to find dishes we'd like and found all the food to be incredibly high quality and exceptionally well prepared. The wine list has some excellent local and UK labels and we thoroughly enjoyed our choice. Service was excellent with all staff being lovely & helpful. We chatted to the lady co-owner and were interested to learn how the business was formed. They definitely have the ideal pairing of skills to to run a great restaurant. I'd very highly recommend the restaurant and will definitely return. Only one tiny niggle: I didn't find the seating comfortable. Some slightly larger / more padded seating would be a great upgrade please!

Under New Management, Flying Fish Public House. New Chef Offering, British, French and Seafood Cuisine. 16th Century Pub offering a warm, welcoming environment for the quiet drinker or the relaxed diner. Pub quiz every Wednesday.
Lovely pub one of my favs. The food took a while to come out as I think they were maybe understaffed. However, all 12 of us where happy with our meals and very full. The food tasted good and the portions were very big. Would come back again to eat here and the beer selection and ambience were lovely.Thank you so much for this review.I apologize for the wait on food, normally we would take pre order for groups of ten or more, but as you can understand after a Bank Holiday it is difficult to predict what will be available as all our food is freshly prepared.Hope this did not damped your birthday celebrations.Hope to see you all soonViki

The Grumpy Chef, Seaford is a Bistro run and owned by Anthony Masters and his family. Anthony has worked as a chef for many years and is now using his experiences in the trade to make fresh dishes for the locals of Seaford and any visitors who happen upon
We visited The Grumpy Chef following the recommendation of our host in Seaford. The atmosphere was buzzing on Saturday evening with the place nearly full, but service coped beautifully and was friendly and efficient. The menu is varied and interesting with plenty on offer for vegetarians, tempting salads, seafood, pasta dishes, steaks and much more. I was bowled over (pun intended) by my roasted tomato soup and the mussles were lovely (perhaps a tad too much cream). We also loved the aubergine salad and the wild mushroom arancini. Overall a perfect meal at a fraction of the price we would have paid in London for such quality food (and drinks have a very reasonable price tag too). Very Highly Recommended!

We look forward to welcoming you to the Dining Room at Deans Place, our newly refurbished restaurant. Our menus change monthly along with daily chef's recommendations so that we can offer the best of Sussex's wealth of local produce wherever possible. Dur
After a particularly poor experience last year, followed by a particularly positive experience also last year we decided to book a table for 15 people for Sunday lunch to celebrate a significant family birthday.I am so glad we did. Without using the usual cliches all I can say is that this was one of the best, if not THE best, Sunday lunch celebrations I have ever been part of.The team of staff led by a very professional young man (duty manager?) was extremely efficient, timely and very pleasant. The organisation of the staff members was very tight and well controlled. Food appeared, wine and drinks were replenished and plates removed quietly and without fuss. The plates of food arrived altogether which I thought was no mean feat for a table of 15 with a large range of meals from vegan to child to meat-eaters. All guests were very impressed with the standard and presentation of the food. I had probably the best salmon as a starter that I have ever had in my life. The roast beef as a main was cooked beautifully and I loved the presentation.Thank you to the whole team at Dean's Place and to the very talented chefs for turning this important day into a very memorable experience.I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. My wife and I will be returning as a couple shortly (and regularly).
