Entirely lined in white and coloured marbles from the ground up to the cornice, the church is unique in the whole Massa-Carrara district. The marbles, even rare ones, both local and foreign, were skilfully matched by Carrara master craftsmen approximately between 1750 and 1770, on the initiative of Pietro del Medico.
