Always a convenient, and cheap place to go for local "Chinese" food. Can be crowded sometimes, especially near dinner time, but still worth waiting a few minutes. Prefer to get take out, as the restaurant leaves something to be desired, but good food for what you pay.

Based on such great reviews, we decided to give Canton Garden a try. Our server, Corinna was very friendly, welcoming and attentive, so 5 stars stars was in order for her but that's where the positives of our experience ended. We started with Egg Drop Soup. For entrees, I had the Laughing Buddha which was tofu, bamboo shoots and black mushrooms in brown sauce. Hubby had Sesame Tofu and our son had Sweet and Sour Tofu.It was hands down the worst tofu I've ever eaten and based on my husband and son's reaction I can safely say that they felt the same way about their meal. The tofu was tasteless and had a really gross rubbery texture and the edges were extra tough land dried out. Unfortunately, the sauces weren't any better. My dish had a brown sauce that tasted like thickened soy sauce and I'm not sure what the sauces for the Sesame Tofu and Sweet and Sour Tofu contained but they were both gelatinous and nasty. The Sweet Sour Sauce was RED and I mean RED. It looked like cherry pie filling. You know the food is bad when your always hungry, food loving teenager doesn't eat much of his meal and doesn't want take the leftovers home!
Small, family run restaurant - very hard working and earnest people working. Food is pretty good Chinese and one of the few places that makes good Egg Foo Young. We go regularly for our Chinese food fix with good, more traditional items.

I love getting the lunch specials. They are inexpensive, delicious, and feed me TWICE. Crab rangoon, egg roll, rice, and entree. My favorite is the general tso.

Visited Hunan's last week and will not be back. 1. When I got my credit card today, someone added $2.00 to the bill, I assume to pad the tip. The young woman who served me was inexperienced and awkward. I thought my reasonable tip reflected the service. 2. Intestinal problems. I won't go into details. I assume it was from their sauces which are obviously not made from scratch. Probably MSG or something similar in them. It has been several years since my last visit and I guess I thought my intestinal problems EVERYTIME I went were not necessarily their fault. I was wrong.Thank you for this review. I'm sorry that the service was underwhelming, but we'll continue to train our staff to better serve you. As far as the extra tip added on your credit card, please email us your info
