Just north of Frankfurt at the foot of the Taunus Mountains, Bad Homburg has been treasured for its healing baths since the 19th century, when it hosted royalty from across Europe and the world. Of course they also came for its casino, sometimes called "the mother of Monte Carlo." Today, both the original Spa Park (or Kurpark) and the Bad Homburg Casino are still here, and visitors also enjoy Bad Homburg Castle and its White Tower. Just northwest of town is Saalburg, a restored Roman fort.

This place is perfect for a Sunday to reconnect with nature. I recommend starting with a 2 h walk in the woods around the restaurant, checking out bambi & co in the nearby fenced area. You might also want to check if reservations are needed before you walk (we got the last table) ... once hungry and happy, we sat down in a very cozy dining room, service was attentive, friendly and quick. We ordered mainly from the game selection, and everything was perfectly cooked, arranged, arrived hot and was very tasty. In the end I was surprised that it was 'only' 50⬠for 2 adults + 1 kid. Highly recommended.

It's 15 mins walking from the center, just outside town, but it's definitely worth the walk. Beers brewed on premises, try the hefe weissen as well. I liked the "handkäse" a lot, mature but not smelly. Kalfs liver was perfect, very red inside, and of course i could get spätzle instead of potatoes. The place was full on a Tuesday 6 pm, people were waiting to get a table - and the place is huge. Amazing. Must be fantastic sitting outside in summer

Booked in advance, arrived on time, waited 15 minutes just to get a menu. Using 37 different fonts in a single menu is not cool, just stupidly confusing and childish. Not asked until a futher 10 minutes had elapsed whether we would like anything to drink. After 45 minutes someone took a food order. After 90 minutes we got food. There was no apology for the delay, so naturally there was no tip either. My chanterelle mushroom omelette was terribly over-salted. My two companions liked their main courses. We did not bother with desert.

A very pleasant surprise on a cold winter evening, this romantic restaurant with really good food and wine; I had a celery cream and a char fish with a curry sauce (a rather rare and tasty sweet water fish coming from circumpolar regions of Norway and Sweden), near a well suggested Riesling; both dishes, as well as the house starters were more than I expected, great cooking and friendly service; worth more visits :)
