Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Yzerfontein. Yzerfontein is a small harbour town with about 1200 inhabitants on the west coast of South Africa about 90 km north of Cape Town. The name in Dutch means "Iron Fountain".The town started out when the farm 'Yzerfontein' was bought by the Katz-family in the 1930s. Then they started dividing the farm into plots. The main sources of income are tourism (especially during the wildflower season from August to October), mining and fishing.

We stopped here on our way up the West Coast. It was the view that attracted us.Lunch was ok, I had calamari and salad. It was obviously frozen calamari but it was tasty enough. The salad was actually pretty good.Service was quick but not very friendly. I visited the toilets and they were very basic but clean. It was then that I saw that the food came from Beaches next door. Not exciting but a lovely view over the beach.
We were pleasantly surprised at the breakfast we had at Droograk. The best service in Yzerfontein and the food was really good. They do however need to think about the air freshener in the restaurant, it does not blend well with the smell of a coffee shop - more like a hairdresser smell but otherwise, I highly recommend the Droograk for breakfast. They also had a very wide choice of different slices of bread to choose from.

Liked the interior, good breakfast and friendly service. We had a English breakfast which we enjoyed and would go back for.

The new owner had literally just taken over. I see lots of potential there. Great spot - stunning views. Not many tables of much space but worth dropping in. Basic meals but the scrambled eggs on the croissant was delicious - moist and fresh! Good cup of coffee too. Best of luck!

As you travel north on the R27 from Cape Town and are nearing the Yzerfontein/ Darling crossing, you will come across Beulah Farm Deli. Not a regular farm stall, Beulah is very tastefully laid out, almost in a French Provençal style, making it a welcome c
We always time our travels up the West Coast Highway in order to have breakfast or lunch at Beulah's. Their attention to detail, presentation of the farm fresh dishes and excellent coffee are not what we usually find on this road. Beulah's also has a rack selling artisanal breads baked in nearby Ysterfontein - a must for a weekend get away.

2nd visit. Our 1st visit, the best toasted cheese ever. This was a bit disappointing this time, but was still very good. The menu is delightful although small. The best bread, croissants, ever. The Baker is the entertainment watching him preparing the goodies. Everything is baked on the premises and if you don't order for takeaway you lose. One of the best bakeries and baked goodies ever been too.
