This cafe was situated close to our Airbnb. It was busy with a good mixture of locals and visitors like ourselves. Service was friendly and efficient, always ready with an essential coffee refill. Food was freshly prepared with a varied brunch menu of substantial dishes. Set us up well for a days exploring in St John’s.

I enjoyed a great breakfast here with my brother and his family when I was recently home for a visit. This was a Sunday and the place was lively but we managed to get a table on the second floor without having to wait. There were lots of choices standard and local on the extensive menu. I enjoyed fish cakes with baked beans, bacon and a touton (a traditional fried bread). It was very good. My sister-in-law was very happy with her berry pancakes. I don’t know why I didn’t have fried balogna which I’d been craving and haven’t had since I was a kid growing up in Newfoundland. Next time. Service was friendly and attentive keeping out water glasses and coffee mugs topped up despite being very busy.

This is a lovely cafe restaurant in the very beautiful The Rooms museum. The restaurant is encased in windows and has a fabulous view of the harbour. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the grilled turkey sandwich with side salad, and it was very tasty. Others had the soup which was also very good. A nice place to stop for a bite while touring the museum.

We had lunch at the hungry heart cafe this week after reading all the reviews. I was thinking hungry heart as in hearty meal. We were very disappointed, limited menu and my wife who is a picky eater ask if she could have jasmine rice and plain chicken breast which was in the kitchen but on two different plates they said nope. So she ordered French toast with ham but ask that mustard be on the side. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with minestrone soup. She got her French toast with mustard on the side but also with mustard in the sandwich they said nothing even after she brought it up. My breakfast sandwich was good but who put cabbage in minestrone soup? The coffee was good. Not a hearty meal in the filling you up sense. Don’t know how they got ranked so high. Live and learn. Thanks so much for taking the time to offer your feedback, not everyone does, and we find any critique is a great way to for us improve. You have given us lots to think about. We are disappointed you did not enjoy your experience with us, and wish we had been able to rectify the situation during your visit. Homemade fresh buttermilk pancakes, Eggs Benedict with freshly made hollandaise, crispy Belgian waffles, and real fruit smoothies, the wizards make them all! We do breakfast fresh!
Been here twice now... once in July and again in August because it is the place to do breakfast, especially when you got company and wants to go out instead of cooking!!! The colour , the setting...just right! Service was good, considering the lone waitres and several tables to be tended.Coffees good... food is amazing...At The Wharf is my choice...with eggs, fish cakes , delicious potato wedges, and toast and fruit. All good stuff here if you’re not too picky picky...something for everyone!!!
