Discover Restaurants offering the best Cafe food in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. Morelia (Spanish pronunciation: [moˈɾelja]; from 1545 to 1828 known as Valladolid) is a city and municipality in the north central part of the state of Michoacán in central Mexico. The city is in the Guayangareo Valley and is the capital and largest city of the state. The main pre-Hispanic cultures here were the Purépecha and the Matlatzinca, but no major cities were founded in the valley during this time. The Spanish took control of the area in the 1520s. The Spanish under Viceroy Antonio de Mendoza founded a settlement here in 1541 with the name of Valladolid, which became rival to the nearby city of Pátzcuaro for dominance in Michoacán. In 1580, this rivalry ended in Valladolid’s favor and it became the capital of the colonial province. After the Mexican War of Independence, the city was renamed Morelia in honor of José María Morelos, who hailed from the city. In 1991, the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its well-preserved colonial buildings and layout of the historic center.

I simply love the variety of food and drinks in this place. Here you can enjoy great food in a calm environment with international tunes. The price is very attractive too!
Café Europa is perfectly located in front of the Cathedral, in the "Arcos" (arcs) section. The view from the terrace is lovely, however, the venue as a whole is an antique colonial house nicely adapted for a restaurant and bar. I strongly encourage to try both, the terrace and the inner room. Aside from the beautiful ambiance, the menu from this place is a perfect way to explore the culinary offerings of this region. Try "Enchiladas" and "Corundas" at this place, as they prepare them in a different and very interferon way in comparison to other restaurants. Prices are relatively cheap. So overall it will be a pleasant experience. An additional positive factor is that you can walk to several touristic spots from there (very short distance).

This is an open-air, covered restaurant. I didn't enjoy feeling chilly, even with a sweater on, but I did like the inviting environment and the attentive service. This is also a pizza place and a bakery. Not my kind of breads and pastries (I'm finikcy), but the omelette was good and the cortado (similar to but not same as a macchiato) just right. Fresh juices are superb. Great place to meet up with friends.

This is part of a chain coffee place in Morelia, and the best one of them, I believe. The ambiance of the âcabinâ like building is really nice. Every time I go I get good service. They have a good variety of drinks if you are not looking to eat there. Prices are very good too.

Located on a perfect corner across from the cathedral this gorgeous café/restaurantHas both comfortable indoor and outdoor seating under and extensive, shady arcade. In addition to an elegant French-style café, the space also doubles as a bookstore which always lens to an intelligent ambience.Of special interest to history buffs, is the story of the cafés namesake, José Mariano Michelena. In addition to being a soldier during the Spanish colonial period, he was also one of the early conspirators in the Mexican Revolution and served in the government thereafter. A fascinating footnote is the fact that he is the person who introduced coffee to Mexico after learning about it, and savoring its delights, in Yemen.

Iâm so glad we discovered Panaderia Origo near the beginning of the aqueduct, across from the amazing Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. You know youâre in a place where people are thinking seriously about food when the menu is embedded in a 39 page treatise on sustainable alimentation. The content and graphic design are entertaining and educational. The excellent food is a nice, international take on Mexican cuisine. The bakery has a distinctive French flair. They even roast and grind their own coffee. My wife enjoyed a delicious Cilantro soup served in a whole wheat bun. My Hamburguesa Mexicana on a cornmeal bun served with Papas Bravas was flavorful and filling. The menu is very extensive, including pizzas and pastas, all homemade. They offer a full selection of sandwiches and crapes that you can take outside for a picnic on the Plaza Morelos. Whether youâre looking for a pastry and coffee, a snack or a full meal, Origo is a great place to visit.
