I finally got to visit this place with a friend on a Sunday afternoon, we waited for about 30mins to be seated but it was definitely worth the wait. The moment you entered it smelled so good, of some spices, tea, baked muffins and that just made us feeling so happy. I really liked the standard tea that I had along with my strawberry muffin, I had a bite of French toast which my friend ordered was also really good. I am coming back for more!

We were worrying oir way through Inokashira Park, with the hopes of finding some cafe, though not expecting one here. As we came around a corner, there was something about this demure solarium that gently dismissed my expectations and delivered charming surprises. They serve Galettes, not crepes...and that buckwheat, it matters. After poking my head in and asking, "English menu?" we were bustled in and seated at a two person window bench with a narrow table and a view of the park. This place is small, and really just porch with thin walls and a music rotation of subdued and effective sings that evoke a shy, demimonde romance just as much as the menu does. The decor is casually quirky and un-fussy. The cutlery was celluloid flatware that had seen many days. We were able to get by with our meager Japanese here, and I would comfortably guess we could have done the whole thing in French had we thought to do that, bon chance. No matter, the lunch cost us ¥2400, for two galettes and two cafe au lait. We were treated nicely, we were not rushed, the people there were considerate, coming over to tell us we could close the curtain when the sun began to shine brightly. Speaking to us in a comprehensible mix of Japanese and English. Though our January visit featured sun and a view of the bare trees and jacketed puppies, it took to our imagination that summer heat, or fall rains might make this cafe just as beguiling, with a different air.Discoveries like this are rare. Relent and enjoy them. Just ask quietly for what you want. Sometimes, it appears as you walk to where it could be.
