Put simply, Dough on Main, offered good food, but we have now retired! Thank you to all who stopped in â whether only once, from time-to-time or once a day! We enjoyed 7 wonderful years delighting you!
Dough on Main was recommended to me by someone who is probably the most hyper-critical restaurant goer I have ever met. I trust her judgment and she eats here regularly. Well, she was right. The eggplant sandwich with pesto was delicious and substantial. I almost couldn't finish it, but it was so good, I couldn't stop. I will definitely be back to try the other sandwiches and homemade pastas. The place is small and has a homey vibe. There's one small table in the window (there are steps) and a larger dining table next to the coolers. Prices are on the high side for Connecticut (average or below-average for New York City), but totally worth what you are paying in terms of quality and freshness. I'm sold.Thank you for your great review. We are pleased that a savvy friend and regular customer enticed you to give us a try and that you were pleased. Your reaction to our food is one we continually strive for. Again, thanks! And we do hope you can visit again soon.

Hadlyme Country Market, since 1905. In 1905, Lee Luther Brockway moved his small country market to the heart of Hadlyme, Connecticut. In 2012, Lisa Bakoledis and Susan Raible Birch restored it to its original glory. Gather for food, friends & laughter!
After a visit to Gillette Castle, we were headed toward a chain restaurant. I advised we pull over to see what this place had to offer, and it delivered some really wonderful sandwiches, along with an incredibly friendly atmosphere.

We try to go here once a week for breakfast. Diane is the nicest person you could meet, but she's always in cooking. I'm glad she is, she's got breakfast down. For about 10 dollars the two of us eat with coffee that never runs out. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. We go early to beat the crowd. It's not a big place, but it's like going home to family evry week.

I could swear I've reviewed the Villager, but I might just take it for granted. As far as I am concerned this is the only place for breakfast in Chester and a great option for lunch, especially if you're taking your sandwiches to go (there are only a few tables as it's a tiny space). I distinctly remember a happy moment enjoying a kielbasa egg sandwich by the Pattaconk Brook that flows underneath Main Street. Every sandwich is made to order. The food is fresh, fresh, fresh. It's also reasonably priced and won't set you back a mortgage payment. During my last visit, they were offering scrumptious little pastries made with berries. It tasted like summer desserts I remember from childhood. The folks who work here are down to earth and it shows in the unpretentious surroundings. This location has long been the site of a coffee shop, and if the walls could talk, they would probably tell you that the Villager carries on the tradition from the era when Chester was a working class town of mills and farms.

Cute little eatery with lots of interesting food choices. We serve organic and farm fresh meals that are creative and nourishing to the soul! Kid love the kids meals and we cater to vegetarians-vegans. We go to the regional market ourselves to insure the
One of the owners practices Traditional Chinese Medicine and they offer a long list of medicinal teas - the menu is creatively showcased in vintage children's books - or written on the chalk boards near the ceiling. Breakfast includes quite a variety of excellent pancakes - order several to share as appetizers before the rest of your food arrives. The omelettes are excellent. Talking to the staff, we felt like we'd known them for one hundred years - so friendly, warm and welcoming. Service was excellent.Home fries are great, but so are the healthy alternatives (spinach with mushrooms!)The inside space is small and cozy - the outside space is a fabulous way to eat great food and enjoy spring.Wish we were local. We would be regulars!Wow, thank you so much. WE WISH YOU WERE LOCAL TOO!!hope to see you again next time you are in the area.cheers and happy dining.

Was in E. Haddam at Goodspeed for a special program that my wife was involved in and went here for breakfast this morning (sat) before i turned back for phila. The coffee was excellent . I was a short order cook when i was in college and was taught that if someone ordered over easy and the yolk broke , you started over. This was not the case here, one egg was over easy and the other one ,because the yolk broke was overcooked. The potatoes were not cooked enough and the amount of jelly given to us for our toast was enough for maybe one piece of toast but certainly not for two pieces. They need to replace the cook with someone with experience. The venue is pleasant, the service was good and i cant speak for anything for lunch . As I said, the coffee was excellent .
