Restaurant "Zum Kanapee" is a small cosy restaurant, part of the hotel "Zur Alten Post", but in a separate building (see picture). The restaurant has the feeling of a large living room with an open kitchen. Over this living room presides a woman, who could easily play the part of cook in a classic movie about a wealthy family. This woman does everything, being chef, cleaning and setting tables, serving food and settle the bill in an unhurried, efficient pace. The schnitzels are well cooked, the beer is cold and the prices are moderate, the more when you take into account the visit to the excellent salad bar, that is included in the price. To find "Zum Kanapee": The entrance is on the side street from the main road through Willingen, leading to the large car park area, under the huge viaduct. The picture attached is taken on this side street with my back to the viaduct.

Die Betreiber sind sehr nett. Das Essen wirklich sehr gut. Ich hatte einen Cheeseburger, schon lange keinen so guten mehr gegessen. Die Preise sind sehr günstig.

Wir haben hier schon mal im Juli eine Pause beim Radeln gemacht, nur Kaffee getrunken.Sehr modern aufgemacht, schöne Lage mit Blick auf den Hennesee. Freundliche junge Leute als Bedienung.Essen konnten wir nur optisch beurteilen, meist Burger oder Flammkuchen, sah alles sehr gut aus.Jetzt haben wir hier gegessen, allerdings Wiener Kalbsschnitzel. Es geht gar nicht, so ein Essen in der Fritteuse zu machen. 2 Schnitzel, maschinell auf fast die gleiche GröÃe getrimmt, total trocken. Alle Beilagen werden extra berechnet, auch z.B. Ketchup. Dadurch wird es teuer, auch 0,25 l Wasser für 2,10 ist heftig.Wenn kann keine Burger mag, woanders hingehen

We had lunch @Xavers Ranch. The food was excellent as allways. Good return on investment. The meals for the children are very modest ( â¬7,-), and with home-made chicken-nuggets! When we are 'im Sauerland' we mostly visit this restaurant. The children played in the playground outside (allthough they could fix the fence...). Our daughter had a good time with the dog, outside.Inside the decoration is old-fashion and 'anspruchlos'. We sat in the old kneipe-sittingroom. If they would perk it up a bit (especially the 70' wintergarten) the experience would be almost perfect ;-)

This is a smart cafe, offering breakfast, pannini and small dishes like salads and wraps. It's right next to the river, and in summer it's an excellent spot for sitting outside. In the colder season, it can be rather crowded inside. But it's a great place to relax.
