Backstage

Backstage at the Green Hotel is an intimate concert venue that have hosted some of the Worlds greatest Artists. With a max capacity of only 120 it has gained an international reputation. Rolling Stone Mick Taylor & Jefferson Starship are amongst Bands who have played. A must see is the Rock Memorabilia which is one of the best in the UK.

Saw Pendragon on the last night of their UK Tour. Sit down gig. The venue only holds 120, so its quite an intimate venue! Good sound and audience and truly great prog band. Icing on the cake was to walk back to the hotel room without having to go outside!!

RSPB Scotland Loch Leven

** The car park and toilets are currently closed due to building works, with public access to the trails via the Loch Leven Heritage Trail. For more information please check the RSPB Loch Leven blog on our website. We are sorry for the inconvenience. ** Set on the southern shore of the loch, RSPB Scotland Loch Leven nature reserve offers a great day out for families, nature lovers and wildlife watchers alike. Formerly known as Vane Farm, the RSPB bought the reserve in 1967 as a centre for environmental education and it is still a fantastic place for children to explore and discover nature today. Visitors can climb the trail through the woodland to the top of Vane Hill for a spectacular view over the Kinross-shire hills and countryside, or meander down to the wetland trail where three hides allow people to get really close to nature. In the summer, ospreys fish on the loch, and in the winter, thousands of pink-footed geese, swans and ducks make the reserve their home.

Great cafe with delicious scones and lots of vegan options. A nice place to meet friends as there are lots of different walks, nice clean toilets, outside seating and the cafe is currently set up to socially distance with ease. The cafe staff are very friendly and helpful. There is also an RSPB shop with all sorts of books, gifts and birdseed????.

Lochleven Castle

This site is closed for now. We’re working hard to gradually reopen the places you love while making sure the experience is safe for everyone. The island fastness of Lochleven is associated with many colourful events and has been visited by countless distinguished personalities during its history. The castle will be forever associated in the memory with another Stewart sovereign, Mary Queen of Scots. She first visited in 1561 as a guest of the owner, Sir William Douglas. But her last stay, in 1567-8, was as his prisoner. It was at Lochleven that she was compelled to abdicate her throne in favour of her infant son, James VI. The castle walls held her for less than a year. In May 1568 she escaped across the loch and before that month was out she was in exile in England. She never saw her native land again. Accessed by small passenger boat. Sailings run on a shuttle basis to and from the island on demand.

I found the whole experience really good. The staff who manned the boats were really friendly and informative. The guide book was reasonably priced and interesting. The castle and island was lovely, easy to get round and well preserved. Definitely worth a visit if you like castles!

Loch Leven Brewery

Have visited the tap House attatched to Loch Leven Brewery several times since it's opening a couple of years ago. The 4 beers are available in cask and bottle are first rate and their own distilled gins are pretty fine too! The small tap room is bright, airy & scandanivin in feel. Live music is a regular evening feature and the background music would not be appreciated by anyone born since the late 80's, which, to my mind is an added plus mark. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming . Dogs are welcome both inside and on the very small patio. No food is served but tasty, unusal bar snacks are available. There are a variety of good eateries in and near Kinross. Opening times vary seasonally but 8pm seems to be closing time each day.
