Wave Rock

Explore the fascinating Wave Rock with it's multitude of colours in the formation [at least several million years in the making] including Hippo's Yawn and climb the stairs for a spectacular view of Hyden and the surrounding desert - this is one rock that you can legally climb! You'll notice a dam at the far end by the stairs, water is extremely precious in this part of the world, but this one blends right in. Be prepared for a long day, 4 1/2 hours journey each way from Perth, but you'll get a chance to stop and buy a beverage or two to enjoy with your lunch and visit the canine cemetery, a must for dog lovers. By the way, I was only kidding about surfing the Rock, but you'll see the similarity with an ocean roller.

The Lace Place

Reviewed By cheryld16 - Perth, Australia

We went to view the lace and were lucky enough to be guided by Olwyn...a master lace maker renowned in her chosen craft/art. Olwyn told us both the history of the museum itself and of the lace. There are drawers and drawers of it. It is beautifully displayed and like any good museum the lighting is not bright as light damages such delicate fabric.Olwyn held us spellbound for well over an hour showing us special pieces, one she herself had made of the Old Mill at South Perth. We could have spent hours looking at the delicate works of art. And the entry cost ...a measly $5 each...bargain of the year!

Mulka's Cave

Reviewed By mjail5

The Humps & Mulka's Cave is a 15-20 min drive away from Wave Rock. We were there from 6.30-8.15am and there was not a soul in sight. Make sure you read the Information Board for some interesting information on the paintings or rather hand stencils. Just a very small cave and after your eyes have adjusted to the darkness, you can easily make out the handprints as there are 452 of them. The colours are more difficult to see but my camera captured them well. There should be a sign at the top of the cave exit to tell people to proceed no further as we initially thought that the Kalari Trail starts there.

Hippo's Yawn

Reviewed By tanyabailey934 - Macclesfield, United Kingdom

Situated in the wave rock park, it's an easy walk from the car park to the Hippos yawn. Access via a bush walk is suitable for most able bodied people and there is a tar sealed path suitable for those with wheels or who have mobility issues.
