Gundagai Visitor Information Centre

Stocking local produce and a wide range of souvenirs, Gundagai Visitor Information Centre is located on the left hand side of the main street (Sheridan Street) as you come into town. The friendly staff can guide you to all the attractions Gundagai has to offer. Take the Heritage Walking Tour to capture the essence of this historic and fascinating township. Gundagai's best kept secret is Rusconi`s Marble Masterpiece on display at the Visitors Centre, 20,948 pieces of carved NSW marble taking 28 years to complete. This one man`s hobby has become a must see. Enquire at the counter for an audio tour of the old Gundagai Gaol, where Captain Moonlight the bushranger was sentenced and spent the night. In Carberry Park adjacent to the centre are the Dad, Dave, Mum and Mabel copper statues, wonderfully sculptured by Aurel Ragus. The visitor centre also books Greyhound and VLine and Trainlink coach and train services.

Gundagai Museum

Reviewed By F2033PKkatem - Beverly Hills, Australia

This place only cost $5 per adult. It had a lot of Australian, country NSW & Gundagai memorabilia for all sorts of history. We spent nearly 45minutes in the museum looking at all the different sections within it. The old machinery and wagons out the back were most interesting along with the bushman's shed.

Gundagai Heritage Railway

By donations, this piece of local history has been saved. Plenty of photos to show what was. Shame that the line doesn’t have an original train still chugging away.

The view is spectacular, especially the view of the old bridges. A little bit windy, and there were also some horses to talk to.

The Prince Alfred Bridge

Reviewed By gregoryd762

This over 800m timber truss bridge, originally carrying the Hume Highway over the Murrumbidgee flood plain is a wonderful example of 19th century technology. Although classified as a historic ruin, enough remains to show what an amazing construction it was.

Dog On The Tucker Box

Reviewed By CasandraTP - Sydney, Australia

If you are on a road trip that includes the Hume Highway the dog in the tucker box is a must stop. There is a fabulous little cafe full of local merchandise and locally produced food. Perfect for souvenir gifts to take home. There is even a tucker box for you to sit on and take a selfie. Throw a coin in the fountain and support the local charity.
