I was visiting a friend in California and our visit to Great Bear Vineyards was definitely the highlight of my trip. The wines were superb, and I especially liked their award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon. What made the visit special was the tour of the 10 acres of vineyard surrounding the winery and the tour of the barrel room, with the owners, Jenny & Marcus. We learnt all about the process of grape growing and wine making. Given the hard work, care, and passion put into every step of growing and hand-harvesting the grapes, and making the wines, I now understand why they taste so fabulous. Highly recommend visiting this excellent winery for the ambiance and for the wines.

I love public gardens all the time, but I appreciate them even more during Covid. The UC Davis Arboretum is a special place. The view of the creek as you walk the paths, the serenity of the gardens, and the wonderful exercise you get there keeps me coming back when I am in Davis. I'd go every time if I could, but my daughter won't let me. I feel very fortunate she was willing to go during my most recent trip to Davis.

The campus is large in size but completely flat so walking is easy. There is a mix of old and new, modern and traditional architecture, public art displayed throughout, and lots of friendly students who will say "hi" as you walk by. The attractiveness of the campus accompanies the first-rate academic and artistic programs offered, and the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is as first-rate a concert hall that you would find anywhere in the world. A terrific place to spend the day, and an enriching university for those seeking post-secondary education opportunities.
