Located west of Antigonish, this park was created to protect the many fossil beds located in the cliffs overlooking its beach.
Our one full day in the area found us exploring the Antigonish area, especially Arisaig Provincial Park and Cape George. The weather was reasonably warm with some clouds around and gave us good visibility for the views. The drive to the park was an easy one and the parking even easier as there was very few people around. Mid September appears to be quite a quiet time to go. There is a small circular walk with gentle inclines which is a good way to get out and stretch the legs if, like us, you have spent the previous week touring and sitting down a lot in a car. The autumnal air made for a pleasant walk. We didn’t see any animals, only heard the odd bird. There were plenty of colourful mushrooms appearing on the damp floor. If you are in the area and the weather is good, do go and visit. If you are lucky you may find a fossil or two, or sea glass, or maybe even a mineral or two on the beach.

We stumbled across this trail while coming into Antigonish from our families cottage that is nearby. We used TA to see what we could do in the area, and this trail was one of the top things to come up. We enjoyed our stroll, and the area was so calm and pretty. Lots of greenery along the lazy river, if allowed it would be great for canoeing or kayaking. It wasn’t a long trail but very flat and well groomed. There were some folks out jogging while others were strolling along like us. It wasn’t super busy which was nice, and is removed from the downtown Antigonish area, so again it gives more privacy.

Local fishers of all ages will entertain you with video clips, one-on-one whopper tales, art and photos of Tuna Times on the high seas. This is a great spot to get insight on what tuna means to the locals and to see their boats dockside. You may even get a chance to meet the local teen tuna record holders!

Since Peace By Chocolate was founded at the beginning of 2016 after our family (the Hadhads) lost their factory in an airstrike in Damascus, Syria, we have been fortunate to share our passion for chocolate with new friends in our community of Antigonish, with people all across the province of Nova Scotia, and now around the world. Our desire for excellence is apparent in every piece of chocolate we produce. We passionately combine a blend of Syrian fillings and ingredients, including nuts, fruit, and spices, creating a little taste of heaven in every sweet. Inside each Peace By Chocolate product is uncompromising quality, with each chocolate a little work of art in and of itself, exuding sophistication, style and excellence. We encourage you to try our chocolate soon because, after all, One Peace Won't Hurt™.
