Koodlu Theertha Falls

Reviewed By ymanoj74 - Chengalpattu, India

Month of visit - December 2019 Open hours - 9am to 4pm Koodlu theertha falls is located near Hebri in Udupi district. The road leading upto the entry of the falls once you turn from the Hebri-Someshwara road is a bit confusing. Most of the path once you turn from the Hebri-Someshwara road is mostly unsurfaced & has very few sign boards. The check post at the entry to the falls is manned by the forest department & the entry is allowed only till 4pm. The path leading to the waterfalls is well defined & has a few concrete steps on the way. It is mostly an uphill trek on the way to the falls & it takes about half an hour at normal pace. The falls itself is pristine with clear water & an awesome scenery around. Be prepared for a few leeches though!!! It is a great place to visit for a weekend getaway.

This is one of the best places to go herping. We did not go in the monsoon when you can spot many many snakes every night. We were there for 2 days and 2 nights in November but still found 3 different species and 8 different specimens - Malabar pit viper, green vine snake and cat snake.

This was a Great experience for my wife my daughter and myself. The drive from Shimoga to Agumbe and back( in the night) was something we really enjoyed. You will not find enough sign boards to locate the view point. Keep going on the Agumbe Manipal road to find the check point, where you can leave your vehicle and walk.

Must go place if you are nature lover, need to park vehicle at gate and walk around a 600 meters to reach falls. We visited in November so not much water flow but utmost peace and full nature was at its best. Not many leech during winter, got attacked by one near water body Be responsible in preserving nature and keeping it plastic and garbage free Officially entry is banned and one needs to contact forest officials for entry which shall not be difficult. Must go place if you happen to be in Agumbe
