The Tree Top walk was very interesting as you get to overlook the enormous trees. There is also some good wildlife about. A great place for photography.

Okarito Lagoon

Reviewed By stora_g - Nelson, New Zealand

Large, relatively undisturbed wetlands with magnificent sea and alpine views, full of birdlife. For the energetic it's close to some real altitude (e.g. at Franz Joseph), a wild coast and interesting bush.

Lake Mapourika

A lovely example of the reflective qualities of some of New Zealand's lakes. Breath taking scenery and crystal like waters. Looked like a fantastic day for the Kayaks we saw leaving the jetty. Next time through we will head out on one of the cruises available. A bit constrained for time today, but this looks like the perfect spot to cruise on! If you can, plan ahead and make the time.

Lake Ellery

Lake Ellery Walk, 1-2 hour return 3km. A pleasant walk through beech forest to a glacier formed lake. The track meanders alongside the slow moving Ellery Stream ending at a picnic table with a fantastic view of the lake. Check the current track conditions and weather forecasts at the Department of Conservation, Haast, Awarua Visitor Centre before starting your trip. •Always take warm and waterproof clothing as the weather can change rapidly. •Carry drinking water, insect repellent and sun protection at all times

Recommended by the motel owner, we went to Lake Ellery. The track was well formed, very easy walk. The lake was beautiful with reflections of trees. We had a lovely time there.
