History may overshadow Nagasaki in foreigners' minds, but pay a visit, and you'll find a thriving, easy-going, and welcoming city. Set around a picturesque harbor, Nagasaki also has a surprisingly cosmopolitan flavor, a legacy of the Dutch, Chinese, and British communities that have left their mark.

Stayed here in August with extended family. Impressive ryokan style rooms, incredible local cuisine dinner brought to room and all dishes explained by staff. Onsen bath in the morning after traditional breakfast. Even went for a morning run around the top of the mountain. Oh and as many have said, just incredible views of the city. The service and attitude of the staff was impeccable, as is the norm almost everywhere in Japan.

The hotel is located on a hill high above Nagasaki. Consequently there are great views of the city from the hotel, but getting there from the train station is strictly by hotel shuttle bus (has to be booked in advance), or taxi. Also all the places to visit in the city are not within walking distance of the hotel. We arrived late and took a taxi. The journey from the train station to the hotel took about 20 minutes. All taxi rides between the hotel and the town cost 1500 to 2000 yen. We made a late booking and we were advised that the twin room would be small. Which is was, but functional. The AC and Wi-Fi worked well. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. One evening when we had not gone to the restaurant for dinner, they came to our room and told us that if we wanted to have dinner, the restaurant would be closing soon, Both the dinner and breakfast were good. As with many Japanese hotels, a coat of paint and some new wallpaper would not go amiss!! The cutest part was the staff coming outside to wave 'good-bye' as left on the shuttle bus.

We visited Nagasaki as part of our Kyushu trip, and stayed one night at this hotel. We booked a room with a good view in order to photo the Nagasaki's famous night view. This was the only aspect of our stay that was not disappointing. Nothing else was worth recommending. Hotel is dated and not convenient. It was not even clean and certainly dirty by Japanese standard. In fact, the room smelled in summer and was better with the window opened. A lot of food were offered for a buffet breakfast but only of average quality. The rooms do not have wifi as others have pointed out. So we left immediately after an early breakfast.
