Find out what Barbecue restaurants to try in Chattanooga. The name "Chattanooga" comes from the Creek Indian word for "rock coming to a point." This refers to Lookout Mountain, one of the city's major attractions. Here visitors can explore extraordinary rock formations, see a roaring enclosed waterfall and travel by train to the top of the mountain for truly awesome vistas. Back down on the ground, don't miss the world's largest freshwater aquarium, the Tennessee Aquarium. History enthusiasts will love the city's museums dedicated to Civil War, Native American and 20th-century history. More than anything, Chattanooga is a scenic city, full of natural wonders waiting to be explored by foot, car, bike or train.

Stand inside for just a few minutes, and you quickly realize that this place is something special. There are no strangers that eat here. Seemingly every patron is a regular, and even newcomers are treated just that way. It's more than smoked meats in here
We were looking for BBQ in Chattanooga, checked on Trip Advisor, and chose Shuford's for proximity and due to the reviews. We were not disappointed.Shuford's meets all the requirements we tend to look for in a good BBQ place. It's pretty plain, sort of a hole-in-the-wall with nothing fancy about it. It's near the railroad tracks. You walk up to the counter to order your food. There's smoke coming out of the building (or nearby). The only thing I'd ask for next time is my sauce on the side. I like to try the meat plain before adding sauce. We had the pulled pork and beef brisket. Both were great. Our sides included onion rings (a small portion -- and so bready the onion slid out of the coating), fried okra (yummy), and slaw (very good). The women who waited on us at the window were very pleasant, and our food came out relatively fast.As I say, I'm just sorry I didn't have room left for the banana pudding. It looked amazing in the huge pan by the kitchen, and I could smell it from the counter. Alas.

Sticky Fingers Ribhouse has been smokinâ up the BBQ scene in the Southeast for the past 25 years. Weâre known for our authentic Memphis-style slow-smoked ribs, no-sauce-needed hickory-smoked wings and mouthwatering barbecue pork & chicken. With classic si
Their slogan is, "Chattanooga's Best Ribs, Wings, and Barbeque" and they did NOT disappoint. My server Ryan V. recommended the St Louis cut ribs with Carolina Sweet BBQ sauce. He did not disappoint as these were some of the meatiest tender beef ribs I've had. The meat fell off the bone and each bite was a meat lover's dream. I recommend pairing the ribs with the candied sweet potatoes and mac n cheese. The meal wouldn't be compete without a glass of sweet tea.Sticky Fingers has my highest recommendation for wet BBW.

This was the first time we ate at this restaurant. The Philly brisket portion was small but our chicken club salad was pretty good. The bill was higher than we expected and, unfortunately, didnât feel we got what we paid for. Wait staff not very knowledgeable about menu nor drink prices.Hey there,Thanks for stopping in, and for letting us know about your concerns. We'll check on the portioning to make sure it wasn't something on our end, and make sure our staff is properly informed. Puckett's serves the best in southern fare daily, breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week! BBQ pulled pork, ribs, fried chicken, burgers, steaks and more!
This place is mediocre. We ordered chicken fried chicken that came with mashed potatoes and green beans. It truly was cafeteria food, at best and overpriced for both the quality and portion received. Our waiter was very friendly and provided great service. Unfortunately, the food does not come close to the hype. You might as well go to Cracker Barrel. Too many better choices to settle for this place.

A cozy little BBQ restaurant next to the incline railway at the foot of Lookout Mountain.
We're always interested in trying out true local restaurants to get the homestyle food appreciated by local residents. We had read about the Purple Daisy and happened to pass it when we were in Chattanooga so we decided to stop for lunch. We didn't realize that "picnic" actually meant the restaurant would be serving the food on paper plates with plastic cutlery! There were no seats inside so we ate outside and there is no ambience in either place. But those points can be passed over if the food in a restaurant is really good. However, the barbecue pork sandwiches--their specialty-- were rather dry, without sauce, because the idea was to add sauce from bottles at the table. The banana pudding was raved about so we tried that, and were glad that we did, because we can give that a positive rating. It was very tasty and some of the best we've had.

We are a small family owned business with only 5 tables inside and 2 out side. We try to make you fill like you are with friends.
My husband, his cousin, and I went to the Aquarium and then chose this restaurant due to its #7 rating on Trip Advisor. Disappointed in the decor (hole in tablecloth) and very cramped. My husband ordered the Saturday Special (catfish) which was very good, and his Cousin ordered a pork plate, which was good. I ordered the Spare Ribs (large order) and they were over-cooked and hard. Had to ask twice for drink refills, and twice for a to-go cup. Could not for the life of me, figure out how this restaurant received the rating that it did!
