Reviews on Bar food in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Province of Alava, Spain. Vitoria-Gasteiz (/vɪˌtɔːriə ɡɑːsˈteɪs/, Spanish: [biˈtoɾja ɣasˈteiθ], Basque: [ɡas̺teis̻]) is the seat of government and the capital city of the Basque Autonomous Community and of the province of Araba/Álava in northern Spain. It holds the autonomous community's House of Parliament, the headquarters of the Government, and the Lehendakari's (Prime Minister's) official residency. The municipality — which comprises not only the city but also the mainly agricultural lands of 63 villages around — is the largest in the Basque Autonomous Community, with a total area of 276.81 km (106.88 sq mi), and it has a population of 242,082 people (2014). The dwellers of Vitoria-Gasteiz are called vitorianos or gasteiztarrak, while traditionally they are dubbed babazorros (Basque for 'bean sacks'). Vitoria-Gasteiz is a multicultural city with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, healthcare, architectural conservation, aeronautics, vehicle industry, oenology and gastronomy. It is the first Spanish municipality to be awarded the title of European Green Capital (in 2012) and it is consistently ranked as one of the 5 best places to live in Spain. The old town holds some of the best preserved medieval streets and plazas in the region and it is one of very few cities to hold two Cathedrals. The city also holds well known festivals such as the Azkena rock festival, FesTVal, Vitoria-Gasteiz jazz festival, and the Virgen Blanca Festivities.

Pintxos are great with top quality ingredients and interesting flavours (5*) but standards of service are shameful - they (the owner in particular) don't make you feel welcome and make it very clear that you are in their way. Don't expect a smile or any acknowledgment either - ideally finish up in a hurry and leave asap so that tables can be set for the new arrivals.Hello, thank you for your opinion. We're pleased you like the pintxos. However we're a bit confused as to why you think the standards of service are shameful. As is the custom in many small bar/restaurants here in Spain, we reserve the tables for guests who are going to have a full meal at lunch or dinner time. We let you know that you are welcome to sit down until the time comes when we need to prep the tables, and we're confident we do this politely.

Nice place for a ración (tapa) and drink. Not a huge bar area but in the main high end shopping street of town. I believe this location also offers full meals in addition to snacks and drinks Muchas gracias por su anotaciones y participación en tripadvisor. Nos alegra leer lo mucho que les gusto nuestro espacio y surtido gastronómico. Gracias por recomendarnos.

After such a weight of recommendation we were not disappointed, great pintxos in a crowded but really fun and joyful place. The staff were clearly having a great time and were excellent, the food compared well to San Sebastien and that is pretty much my highest praise. The star was for us the tuna carpaccio and the free chicken nibbles.Hi Phatbloke! We are very happy to know that you have been happy in La Malquerida.Vitoria has a lot to offer you, and in La Malquerida, we hope to see you soon!Hug!
