If you visit Italy you may have created a mental list of the kinds of things you want to do, which may run something like this - visit the ruins, maybe some shopping, enjoy good food and (of course) visit a cat cafe. Well before we go any further, I'm a little disappointed that a cat cafe only appears as number four on your list, but we'll gloss over that point. Now what if I were to tell you, you could achieve points 3 (good food) and 4 (a cat cafe) in one go - read on....We spent a joyous afternoon travelling an Italy's "clockwork and cardboard" railway system. If Mussolini made Italy's trains run on time it's no wonder he needed a lie down afterwards. Without going into too many details it would be fair to say that good-humour was in short supply by the time we arrived at Gatto Bistrot. As soon as we entered the door we felt the stress and frustration of the day start to evaporate as we relaxed into the welcoming, peaceful atmosphere of Gatto Bistrot. How can you rate a place like this? Well of course animal welfare must come at the top of the list - all the residents looked happy (positively smug - well, you know cats) and certainly well cared for. The owner talked about each of them with obvious affection and care and told us the individual way in which each of them liked to be patted. The food and drinks were very wholesome and were all of excellent quality. We each found something to really enjoy on the menu. The owner made us feel very welcome and talked enthusiastically about her business, her cats and the local area. The bistro (including the toilets) was spotlessly clean and had a welcoming and wholesome atmosphere that left us all feeling really pleased we had made the effort to visit this establishment - and you will too. After an hour or so we felt suitably refreshed and ready to brave Rail-Italia once again. We headed for the local station 2 minutes from the bistro (Portici Belavista) walked in and attempted to buy tickets from a friendly, elderly gent sat at a rickety table. He gave a kind of toothless chuckle and beckoned us to follow him out of the door, and pointed to the actual railway station about 50 meters down the road still chucking. I've no idea what the building we had walked into was but I suspect we had made his day.Huge thanks to all the people and cats at Gatto Bistro (and the gent in the building which obviously isn't a railway station) we had a really enjoyable time and would recommend it to anyone.

This place lies in the centre of the town of S.Giorgio a Cremano, quite out from the usual touristic routes. If you don't have a care, you might want to get a cab to get there. It feels a bit like a traditional english pub - only in a mediterranean environment - and without the sticky floors! The menu offers a wide selection of burgers, sandwiches, and main dishes.I had a sirloin steak, and I really appreciated it (insist with the waiter for the cooking level - default is well done - and don't even try to ask for medium rare they don't know what it is)There is a wide selection of beer and wines, poor on spirits.

A good pub feel with Premier League Football available to those who want to watch it but other areas of the pub are football free. Staff were lovely and helpful. The menu has some excellent names on it, you can order a 'David Beckham' Panini which is chicken, or an' Oscar Wilde' which is pork, plus other specialities such as a 'Big Ben' and the 'David Bowie'. I settled for the entrecote and french fries, medium rare, absolutely delicious and very reasonably price. They have a good range of draft beers available and mores the better are right next door to a bank with an ATM which can be difficult to find in Naples. A good find and I will use them again!

Lovey find, we enjoyed our sushi and sashimi. Very attentive and efficient service. We liked their home-made soya sauce. Not a great selection of kinds of fish, but what they served us was all fresh and tasty. It's not a five stars because there could be a wider selection of salads (one on the menu but even that wasn't available), and prices are steep for a village in the south of Italy. The same lunch in Milan, with the same quality of fish, would have cost approximately the same (40€ each, no alcohol). We just got used to fantastic food at cheaper prices everywhere in the Campania region, and this appeared a little expensive.

Very delicious meatball+tomato sauce; lasagne was good but not as good as the meatball. Would be nicer if could be heated longer.

When you're lost in Ercolano as we where (what to do in Ercolano for a week when you're not visiting Herculaneum and Pompeii) this place gives you a really warm welcome to the locals and good food too! But please remind; it's a bar, so don't go for the Aperol Pritz and espresso with sambucca, but taste one of the great beers and spoil yourself with a very tasty hamburger, their service is excellent and they are happy to advice you even when you don't speak Italian! The place is not easy to find, just walk to the end of the map where TripAdvisor advices you to go. You have to go up a stair to reach the terras. They are open from about 20hrs, instead of 19hrs.Thank you Esme D,it was an honor for us to have had a pleasant evening. See you soonEmanuele
