My husband found this gem, and suggested we check it out for a late dinner. It's sleek and cool...like something you'd find in Los Feliz or Silverlake, except it's in Downey and easily a few minutes from our house. The bar has an amazing selection of beers and whiskeys. The cocktails are artisan and delicious. The food is very good, too. The best thing we had on the menu was the Buffalo Cauliflower. It's pretty simple cauliflower cooked in buffalo sauce...it was different and interesting. I couldn't stop eating it. The duck confit fries were good, but the confit was a bit dry. My husband's burger was very good. We wanted to try the churro fries for dessert, but they were all out for the night. It's so nice to find a cool watering hole close to home...it's always a pain to go into the city to find a quality place for good drinks and food.
Eat. Drink. Be Happy. What does it take to be a regular at Bar Louie Downey? An enjoyment of the craft and the desire to experience something out of the ordinary. From our Chicago roots, we've always known that having a comfortable place to hang out, get
For lunch we had the Southwest Burger with loaded tots on the side. We also had the Hummus trio. Very good food! Bar selection for beer and drinks is pretty large. Great service. Nice decor. I imagine this place is hopping in the evening. Very good happy hour pricing, and Burger Tuesday has all burgers at $5 after 3:00 pm. Pretty good pricing!George, thank you for your generous review! We love that our Trio Dips & Chips and drinks were able to hit the spot for you! Looking forward to your next visit!
Inconsistency here due to various problems. The location is well known in the area but since the size limits storage of foodstuffs (room must be made for the extensive ale options), I have been disappointed time and time again with items I have found delicious yet are not available on a daily basis. Just last night, I was craving the seasoned tater tots, only to be told it was a Sunday Special. A salad I had ordered a few weeks ago listed avocado as one of the main ingredients. Since my medical needs require a superfood, I was confused when no avocado was in my salad and no explanation was give by our server. She went to the cook to ask for the avocado and after a long wait, we were told the item was not ripe enough to serve. I asked for a discount and a gruff manager came to the table to ask me what the problem was. He begrudgingly offered a small discount but no apologies. **Beware of the speakers used for the paid music machine. Eardrums may burst!

This is my periodical review of BJâs as I visit this particular restaurant once a year. In a good sense, it hasnât changed. Itâs consistent and dependable as related to presentation, taste, and value. I had the Great White pizza, BBQ chicken salad, and a Vanilla Creme soda. All excellent! Give it a try!

Relaxed, lodge-chic chain serving global comfort fare, including stir-fries, pot roast & pastas.
Five of us had a long dinner, not because of the service (that was EXCELLENT) but because we talked so much and ordered a lot. The best part was at the end when we ordered an apple huckleberry pie and it was heavy on the apples and very light on the huckleberries. I teased the waitress that her tip would be based on how many huckleberries we found, and at the end, she came out with a little dish of huckleberries that she found on her search in the freezer! Cutest thing ever. I even gave her a hug upon departure. The food was very good, the atmosphere was great, getting to know our new friends in such a place was a wonderful, but our waitress was a pure delight. I wish I could remember her name. Nakeene or Nikaa or some unusual name. Two syllables I know.
