Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Saint Simons Island. Enveloped by expansive beaches, moss-draped oaks, and salt marshes, Saint Simons Island, part of the Golden Isles chain near Brunswick, is a nearly 18 square mile island, once dominated by rice and cotton plantations. Today, it’s a recreation wonderland with superb championship golf courses, miles of bicycle paths, great fishing, historic sites, and excellent restaurants. If you love golf, you’ll love Saint Simons Island, which is home to the 18-hole King and Prince Golf Course and 27-hole Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Resort. Nearby are 234 more holes of golf at popular spots like the 63-hole Jekyll Island Golf Club and 36-hole Sea Island Golf Club. Anglers have lots of opportunities to fish in the rivers, tidal creeks, sounds and the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll find charters and guides at the Golden Isles Marina, and you can also fish off the St. Simons Island Pier and surf cast on stretches of beach on the island’s north end. For such a compact island, Saint Simons is brimming with historic sites. Don’t miss the Saint Simons Lighthouse, where you can climb the 129 steps for a magnificent view of the island; the Fort Frederica National Monument, which has remnants of the British fort built in the 1700s; and the Bloody Marsh Battle Site, where the Spanish defeated the British in 1742.

Spacious, comfortable dining area. There is a fairly priced buffet, and usually the buffet food is acceptable and a good value. However the made to order food is inconsistent, and occasionally terrible. Recently, for takeout, my wife ordered Signature Chow mai fun (spelling?) , a vermicelli dish with shrimp, and the vermicelli was tasteless and dry, as was the shrimp. I tried some, and we threw 95% of the order away. That same day I order Kung Po Chicken, and it was at at least acceptable. There is no other Chinese restaurant on Saint Simons Island, but this one is only a place of last resort for me, knowing I might be disappointed, and that disappointment rate approaches 33% of the time. The people there are nice, but they have not mastered consistent food preparation/
Top 4 Soups food in Saint Simons Island, Georgia, United States
This was a much-anticipated return visit. The crab soup was not as I recalled - being less flavorful than I remembered. The mussels were a serious disappointment: the mussels themselves were okay, but the sauce/soup was chunky tomato, and the advertised crostini did not accompany the mussels - "We don't do that anymore!" The fried scallops (appetizer) were very good - but there were only four. Hard to believe the four that were served were the five ounces that the menu promised. I might be hard put to make the trip again. There are other places on the Island with better crab soup and probably better value.

Our visit to Ember was a great experience. Service was attentive and prices were reasonable. The duck drumettes, grilled Caesar salad, and flat breads were very tasty. Happy hour between 4:30-6:30 has great drink specials. Ignore the negative reviews and enjoy the cool ambience of Ember and its sister bar next door with live music on weekends.

This is a small restaurant and somewhat of a hidden gem. The staff members are accommodating and pleasant. We both had noodle dishes. And they were delicious! The food was well prepared in s timely manner. And the price of our dinners were very reasonable. This little place is our favorite Asian restaurant on the island! It is well worth a try!

Our family has been dining here for years - either in house or take out. Dining on the outside terrace is always very pleasant. We always order vegetarian sushi options which are made with fresh ingredients and are of top quality. Also, recommend the tempura with its light tasty batter and wonderful dipping sauce.

Tara Thai & Sushi is the only place on St. Simons Island to offer both authentic Thai food and quality & fresh sushi made to order. You can choose traditional table seating, outdoor or indoor, or sit at the sushi bar to watch your food being made right be
We have been going to this restaurant for 2 years now. The atmosphere is fine, the sushi is average at best. Most of the rolls are similar anyway without much variety of fish. We really try to support this local restaurant but they really need to improve their menu and their wine list. Their menu hasnât changed at all and the specials are always the same. ( If they are there every night, they are not a âspecialâ.) Last October the owner told us they would have a new menu in November but after recently dining there it hasnt changed. We dined there last Friday night and the place was empty. Guess we are not the only patrons that feel as we do. They need new management.
