Things to do in Jena
Going out for "Asian food" in Jena is odd. Most restaurants focus on foods with Asian ingredients, rather than the food of a particular country or region. Virtually all of the Asian restaurants in town are owned by Vietnamese people who focus on "Chinese" food adapted towards the German palate. Sometimes pho is on the menu, as is a Thai curry or two, but if the Thai curries weren't labeled Thai curries, I probably wouldn't recognize them as Thai curries. That said, Thi Bich Pham is my favorite of the restaurants in Jena. Its dishes seem to have the most flavor, and the dishes labeled spicy actually have a little bit of a zing to them. Pho is on the menu but it lacks the depth of flavor of a pho at a restaurant that focuses on Vietnamese food, rather than an Asian mishmash. Their Chinese food comes the closest to Chinese food of any restaurant in town, though. I usually go for the Sichuan beef these days; they used to have a tasty black bean chicken dish that is no longer on the menu. A meal, excluding drinks, will set you back about â¬4-6.Service is generally pretty fast, and you can eat either inside or at one of the tables along the Wagnergasse. That said, at meal times, it can be tough to get a spot at a table, especially during winter, when there aren't any tables outside.

From my point of view, Dr. Wok is the average, not gorgeous and not disgusting, cafe with dishes from different Asian countries - China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan. Good price / quality ratio, prompt service.I was pretty surprised with tea. It was cold and basically more like a tea drink with sweeteners than the tea.For a dinner (noodles with vegetables and chicken + tea drink), I paid 6.50 euros. The interior is nice. Specific smells, like in Asian eateries. The staff was OK. It is worth a try, but not for a fancy dinner, of course.

I was adventurous and wanted Chinese food and found WOK King in a street near the center of town. The menu is only in German and since I do not speak any German, I randomly picked 2 numbers between 1 - 100 and matched that to the item on the menu. The first item was a veggie soup and was delicious. The second item was a rice and stew dish and was also great. Take a chance you wont be disappointed.

Chinese bun in different flavours and typical Taiwanese pearl milk tea, I couldnât believe I can have them in Jena. Bun is soft and cooked in perfect time, spicy tofu and red bean buns are my favourite. Pearl milk tea is just like what we had in Taiwan. My daughter said it tasted better than Gong Cha. No chance to try their afternoon tea, I heard their owner good at making cakes. Hope to try it next time.

I had a high expectancy as it is meant to be authentic and all that. I actually never had this sort of ramen before.. The flavour was somehow odd.. I am not sure if the owner germanised the food too much..but it was nothing like ramen that I know and grow up with.. Would not visit there again..
