Instead of group tours, they are conducting private tours with your own group of cohorts. What a fascinating and fabulous place to visit and to make a donation to a very worthy cause. The owners have opened their private home and private collection of Mexican art to anybody who wants to visit and only ask for a modest donation that goes towards local charities. It is impossible to absorb everything and only one visit as there is so much of interest to look at. A big shout out to the owners for their vision and generosity.

Facing the main square in Merida, this extraordinary building dates back to 1549 and is built with intricate artistry in the Spanish Plateresque style.
Run by Banamex, this museum has several rooms of furniture from the Montejo family that conquered Yucatan, as well as several exhibit rooms. When I was there, I saw an excellent exhibit of Mexican folk art.

No admission charge. The museum was relatively quiet and I could wander about taking my time enjoying the contemporary art. Beautiful textiles.

Merida is filled with excellent museums - and other sights - but this was one of my favourites. Free entry, beautiful old building with an ethereal inner courtyard, small giftshop (to really make those memories last!!), and more. But obviously the real attraction is the art. There were 4 different exhibits on when I was there, but nothing better than the works of: Mario Martín del Campo. This man is a genius! Hopefully the art on offer wows you like it did me. If not, enjoy the cool, the shade, and the history built into the setting itself.

Inexpensive entry fee with excellent displays of traditional and modern art. A very good display describing the history of the Henequen industry and re-use of the sisal factories as upscale resort haciendas.

Beautifully done, comfortable and cool and what a great way to celebrate chocolate! We really enjoyed cooling off and learning about the people and their history with chocolate.
