Helsinki Art Museum HAM is located in Tennispalatsi in Kamppi. The functionalist building completed in 1937, originally with indoor tennis courts, is an attraction in itself. However, HAM is much more than the museum in Tennispalatsi. Almost half of 9.000 works are on display in parks, streets, offices, health centers, schools and libraries. The art museum hosts a small permanent exhibition of the works of Tove Jansson, including two large frescoes originally created for the restaurant of Helsinki City Hall. Other exhibitions change periodically. At this time there were two exhibitions: Jussi Kivi's Deep Down Under and Air de Paris. The first one was a little bit strange compilation of photographs and drawings of urban wastelands and industrial zones. The Paris exhibition is made up of paintings from several different artists. Every artwork has something to do with Paris. It was a little disappointment that the upstairs was closed because of changing the exhibition. However, it was compensated in the entrance fee. It was now only 5 € (regular price is 12 €).
