Located at the west end of the Wray Shopping Center. This is your typical small town cafe. They do have great burgers!

This friendly place offers quite a variety of menu options. All sandwiches seemed excellent. I had a turkey bacon avocado called the Cam Sam that was terrific! Sandwiches also come with a bag of chips. Their home baked cookies are really amazing and not to be missed! Was well worth the stop.

Riverside Cafe

Probably most tourists, like us, were there to watch the Greater Prairie Grouse display on a Lek (site where males dance to attract females). After this crack of dawn event (reservations required) our group repaired to the Riverside Café for a much needed breakfast. Of course, all the locals were happy to see yet another group of birders and were very friendly. Food was topnotch. Service fast and efficient. If I were in Wray again, I would definitely eat breakfast and lunch here.

This place is about a mile west of town, but certainly worth the few minutes extra to get there. The setting is unique. An old Seventh Day Adventist Church building complete with the steeple. The main sanctuary is now used for parties, holidays, and larger crowds. The main restaurant is in the East Wing. The restroom is down the hall and original church issue. The salad bar is also down the hall, which is unique. I ordered the Tuesday Special, Chicken Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, and green beans. Noticed that those seated at the 3-4 tables near me also seemed to favor the daily special. Definitely the right choice. Meat was soft and not overly seasoned. Potatoes most certainly the real deal, not pealed, and chunky mashed by hand, not whipped. Gravy also flavorful and tasty. Dad is the cook, mom the waitress, and adult son helps where he can. I really enjoyed watching the family dynamics. Made me smile. I had the Cherry Pie for desert with both the optional scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Crust tasted homemade, and cream thick and flavorful. Whole meal was only $14 including soft drink and desert! I left a generous tip because it is clear where the money goes in a family business like this. I really had a great meal and will share the experience in stories for a long time to come.

Our group of fifteen birders on a tour of the state enjoyed dinner here. You go up the stairs, where the second floor opens to a large dining room. There were so many choices on the menu. I settled on a hearty blackened chicken sandwich. I loved that baked sweet potatoes were an option. Several of us signed up for that. Great choice of brews as well. If you visit, take the time to look at this historic area of Wray.
