Located very close to Carlyle Lake and just feet from Camping and Lodging on Carlyle Lake, The Wheelhouse Grille is the perfect location to meet for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Come out for All You Can Eat Fried Chicken Thursdays or All You Can Eat Fried
We just stopped in to give this lakeside grille a try for our Sunday night dinner. I wasn't expecting fabulous and it wasn't. There wasn't much to the salad bar, white iceberg lettuce and stale saltines and the tomato soup was awful. My burger was just okay. My husband said his steak was good but the baked beans were not warm and the onion rings weren't rings at all, just pieces The flavor was fine though. The staff was good. It seems like some selections are good and it's hit or miss to find which ones are good choices. Probably won't go back there the next time we venture that direction.Donna,Thanks for coming by the Wheelhouse Grille for your Sunday meal. That's really too bad that you didn't enjoy our fare. I do hope that you said something and allowed our staff to make it up to you. When a party does nothing and instead waits for social media, it really does nothing except create a "pool filter" microcausm effect for every restaurant that overemphasizes the opinions of a few tables that for whatever reason (many times preferences) didn't enjoy their meal. The pool filter effect I'm referring to is the way social media allows the few June bugs in the net to overshadow the beautiful weather and crystal blue water the majority of folks experienced at the pool. Some folks go right for and never get around the pool filter. Most of the folks came, they saw, they ate, they enjoyed and we never heard from them on social media. At any rate, if you do frequent Carlyle again, we do hope to see again.John LieberOwner
Subs are always fresh and delicious and the workers are always the most friendly and smiles on their faces.
So this restaurant has just recently opened up. I was across the street and decided that I ought to at least try and find the menu on line for Dueyâs and luckily the website was active. The menu items sounded much more interesting than where I was, so I went over to Dueyâs. Clean, quaint, nice little place. I ordered the Italian sandwich otherwise known as the Chi-Town-Nana and it was phenomenal! Iâve had some great Italian sandwiches but this one by far was perfect. Came with home made chips & lots of napkins. A great choice, Iâll be back sooner or later. No regrets!!

This was our second attempt to have dinner here. We came about one month ago on a Thursday night, but the restaurant was closed. Last evening we decided to try again but we remembered to call first. Sure enough they were scheduled to close at 6 PM. We dashed over there! The setting is great right on the water. There are outside tables as well as inside but it was a bit chilly to eat out there. We did watch the crappie fishermen and the pelicans for a while. My husband and I had the one pound of fried pollock and two sides - french fries and cole slaw. The coating is coarse like corn meal which gave the fish filets some nice crunch. The french fries were also crunchy which I really like and they kept their crunch through the entire meal. Our bill with two beers was $24. Our friends had the catfish dinners. They said their fish was really good and the hubbie loved the hush puppies. We talked to the owners. They will be open Friday to Sunday until the end of October. Next year, they will re-open somewhere around lent.

Wanted a sit down dinner and this was close to our hotel and had Ok reviews so stopped in at 8PM on a Sat nite. Looks nice from the outside, but disappointed on the inside. I understand their fascination with African wild animals, I was mesmerized too by the wild animals on my the East African safari. Their restaurant is loaded w/ stuffed African wild animal heads and in 2018, I find that offensive. Looking past that, their "table clothes" are thick plastic, the chairs are cheap meeting room chairs, their menus are sealed in peeling plastic. Our server was very pleasant but when asked what beers were on tap, she struggled and left a bunch off their list that's on the far wall. If we would have known all that was available, we would have ordered one. My honey ordered their all you can eat fried chicken which he said was average. Their mashed potatoes left the skins on which was nice. I ordered the grilled pork chop w/ sauteed zucchini & squash. Both meals came w/ a salad. Salad was average, nothing exceptional. My chop was so overcooked a sharp steak knife couldn't cut thru it and it was bone dry. When I brought this up to our server, she asked if I would like another -uhhh duh! When I said yes she then asked if she could use the fork I was using to remove the chop from my plate! What??! The zucc & squash was a bit over cooked and boring with no spices other than salt. The replacement chop arrived in 5 or so minutes and was excellent, tender & juicy but quite a bit smaller than the first one. Overall the meal was just OK but the price was right.
