The Sudan or Sudan (/suːˈdæn, -ˈdɑːn/ ( listen); Arabic: السودان as-Sūdān) also known as North Sudan since South Sudan's independence and officially the Republic of the Sudan (Arabic: جمهورية السودان Jumhūriyyat as-Sūdān), is a country in Northern Africa. It is bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east, South Sudan to the south, the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west and Libya to the northwest. It is the third largest country in Africa covering 1,886,068 square kilometres (728,215 sq mi). The White Nile flows through the country, emptying into Lake Nubia in the north, the largest manmade lake in the world. The River Nile divides the country into eastern and western halves. Before the Sudanese Civil War, South Sudan was part of Sudan, but it became independent in 2011.

I walked by this place last weekend but was not in the mood to enter. So I decided to go there after work today. It's always a little funny to enter a new restaurant by yourself, which is a bit dark, until the eyes get used to the contrast between outside and inside. The place is pretty open, with low tables and chairs and it has an Ethiopian coffee kitchen. I placed myself close to that. The waitress brought me water and the menu. There is actually no point asking for the menu. I picked a dish and was told they are 'out today'. So I asked what they have and I was told 'SHEKLA', a traditional meat dish. Well, it was not possible to get more details, so here we go. What came was a little clay stove with a pan built in on top, filled with sliced beef (?) and charcoal underneath. Next to it a nice salad and a bowl with hot / spicy tomato sauce. It was the most delicious meal!!They have it every day, but Fridays only in the morning.thanks dear and best customer we miss you come and visit as thanks for your good comment about Africa village restaurant hope to see you again Best regard Gemal

A good place to eat - if you have time to spare. There is a large patio with some small cats and a rare waiter. Live music on thursday nights and a reasonable menu - with reasonable prices - and reasonable (but not super-special) food. A good place to hang out on a Thursday night - or with a friend when you just want to relax.

Seated outside, in a landscaped garden with water, you will enjoy this little haven on one of the busiest streets of the posh part of khartoum. Fish is tasty and comes in large platters. Be ready to eat with your (hopefully clean) hands and to interact with the many cats - love cats - who share the garden, under the kind eye of the tolerant waiters.

Al Housh has a neat venue, for any restaurant, with a large fake tree in the center, surrounded by various cooking stations. I had a good meal there that was above average, but not fantastic.
