Took our rented pontoon boat right to the beautiful dock outside the winery, picked up a bottle of their delicious rose, some plastic cups, and enjoyed the crisp, sweet wine at the waterfront picnic table. Several other cafe tables and tents were set up to space out tasters and wine lovers. Friendly staff helped make us feel safe while attempting to enjoy our first winery of the trip.

3rd and final stop on a short tour of wineries along the west side of Cayuga Lake and definitely our favorite of the day. The tasting room overlooks the lake and the vineyard and provides a beautiful view for tastings. Or grab a glass (and some of required snacks) and relax at one of the picnic tables or chairs. The wines were all very good. We especially enjoyed the Riesling’s. They offer dry, semi-dry, and semi-sweet varieties. They also offer $2 a bottle discounts with the purchase of tastings and additional discounts with the purchase of multiple bottles. We ended up leaving with a full case!

Here at Hosmer Winery, we try and keep tradition alive. Each bottle of wine starts from the ground up, literally. We use our breathtaking surroundings not only as inspiration but for a reason to do what we do. As one of the original wineries on Cayuga Lake we proudly represent some of the oldest vinifera in the Finger Lakes. We are a fully functioning estate winery; everything from growing, to picking, to pressing, to bottling is done on site. As a farm, we cultivate over 70 acres of grapes with over 10 varieties and growing. Our belief in winemaking and grape growing are parallel and continuing, we strive to maintain preservation of the land and the fruit form vine to table. Our passion for what we do is exemplified through the creation of our memorable wines.

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP: June 2020. Enjoy small-batch artisan wines handcrafted from our estate vineyards. We produce classic varietal wines such as Riesling, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, and Chardonnay, as well as Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Meunier, which are rarely found in the Finger Lakes region. Our spectacular panoramic view of Cayuga Lake is one of the best in the Finger Lakes!
