Went here with a party of friends/colleagues for what we thought was going to be 'nibbles' and following a really depressing, heavy and greasy meal the night before in Assissi...this was the total opposite and totally restored our faith in the wonder of Italian cooking. Enter through an unprepossessing door, with no hint of the 'restaurant' about it, into a cheerful, bright interior to be welcomed by young, smiling, enthusiastic staff. Our meal had been pre-ordered and was a voyage of joyful discovery! a wonderful tomatoey starter, tart and pungent and moreish; light, melt-in-the-mouth tempura vegetables; sticky, risotto with the flavour of local truffles making it impossible not to eat even though I was full to bursting...rich, local wine completed the feast. If you find yourselves in Foligno - get yourselves there!

For beer lovers, this must be paradise, with a huge array of beers from all over the world. We stuck to the wine, and to the Parma ham and cheese. Twice I had the cheese board, which features 6 different cheeses each month. This month there were two French, two Italian, one Spanish and one British, accompanied by three jellies/honey. These were expensive cheeses, hence the portions were quite small. Staff were very welcoming; there were free nibbles at the bar, which we didn't sample.

We have eaten at this recently opened Osteria/ enotecca for supper, lunch and occasional breakfast eight times in March and April. One evening meal was very good indeed as were two breakfasts. The coffee is good, but cappuccinos were not. But three other evening meals were very disappointing. Dry main courses and warmed up pasta, i.e. not freshly cooked were the main problems. The service was variable, sometimes ok, sometimes indifferent and even disdainful. Cappuccinos at most recent breakfast were served with longlife milk and stale cornetti. A great shame because when it is good it is very good. We will not go back until we hear they have got their act together.NeedDear Highbury19,thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad that you have come to our osteria 8 times.. the problem is that we do not remember You! Are You sure you have reviewed the right place? We have this strong doubt also because your statements are not correct: we never serve warmed pasta and our cornetti with homemade jam are always fresh as well as the milk. We are very sorry because maybe you have confused our osteria with some other place, However, we invite you to come and visit us as soon as possible. Our best regards.
I have previously reviewed E n'osteria when it was in the town of Nocera Umbra. This last year it moved to my town, Foligno, and I can't begin to tell you how exciting this is. The owner has been a restaurateur here in Umbria for many years. He is a food and wine expert who has deep understanding of the food he serves. He also produces some of the best, simple and tasty dishes in the area. Last night, my wife and I enjoyed his baked Parmigiana and I had his veal with tuna sauce. Both dishes were devine! If you are traveling in Umbria and visit Foligno, make sure you stop in to E n'osteria!
The old Osteria of the ancestors, and more in ancient times, the trattoria of the great-great-grandmother "Zelinda", where the journey of a simple and genuine cuisine of ancient times had begun. Small restaurant, bistro, tavern, wine bar, typical local pr
