The Heritage Centre shares the 1846 Victorian former station building with the Ridgmont Station Tea Room (a separate business). The Heritage Centre is run by volunteers and provides a gift shop and a small but growing collection of railway-related artifacts in the restored former booking office. We tell the story of the Marston Vale line between Bedford and Bletchley, as well as future proposals for the East-West rail project of which the line is part and also the proposed Bedford-Milton Keynes Canal/waterpark project (which will pass nearby). The Heritage Centre is currently usually open Thursday - Saturday, although we can also open for pre-arranged group visits at other times (please email for details). The Tea Room complements the Heritage Centre but is currently open for advance booking only. Please phone ahead to make sure we are open before travelling.

We visited before our flight to Edinburgh early morning. The lounge itself is well organised for social distancing measures and the staff were great in explaining the arrangements. Breakfast rolls were available with plenty of choice on offer to suit everyone. Coffee was great from the machine - we didn’t have any alcoholic drinks but saw pink hi and bottled beers being consumed which were served at the bar area. All in all good value and great service.

Excellent coffee and sausage rolls at the Green Coffee Company situated within Bedford Library. Great value too with a Groupon voucher. Friendly and helpful staff. Well worth a visit.
