Bungamati is home of Machhendranath which is considered as the patron god of Patan. The local people mostly engage on traditional wood carving and sculptors. Khokana is a small Newari village next to Bungamati. Khokana is also known as village of farmers and most of the homes and windows are decorated with chili, garlic and onion garlands. Poor Customer Service. Still waiting on the refund from Mr Roka (Nepal) from our tour after him promising several times. Don't tour with this company as it is not honest. Mr Roka seems to disappear, does not have a current email addresses (bounces back) or contact numbers (disconnected). They have given Paypal the incorrect email contact also. They are now investigating. PLEASE BE AWARE before paying for anything - even a deposit. Pre COVID we are very frequent world travelers and this has been the worst experience. No confidence in booking with Mr Roka again.

This is an interesting place to visit. The architecture is very interesting, and they were doing a lot of restoration. Still, it is a very poor village. The people are friendly. The Newari food is great. I would not take this as either a half-day or full-day tour. Take a taxi up, have the driver wait for 30-45 minutes, while you look around (or longer, if you want to eat in a restaurant), then get on to other things. The tours are over-priced and drag on too long.
