Tresfjord Museum, which was officially opened in 1949, is a museum of rural life dating from the mid-nineteenth century, featuring a group of buildings including a smokehouse, barn, store house, mill, bakehouse, and sleeping quarters. The rural museum provides a good insight into everyday life in this area in bygone years. The museum is currently being extended.
According to the history books, More og Romsdal Agricultural Museum used to be a royal residence in Viking times. In the sixteenth century it became part of the Giske estate and later became a bailiff's residence. The Agricultural Museum, which opened in 1979, contains exhibitions relating to Norwegian farming history from the late nineteenth century to the present. There is a well maintained park, with an avenue of oak trees dating from 1758 and a duck pond, just a stone's throw from the beach in Gjermundnes bay and the Stone Age burial mounds at Leikarneset
