Imposing and solid, Lundbrygga lies in the centre of Sjøvegan. Located on the site of an older pier, it was built sometime after World War I and before World War II. Today the wharf is a museum where you can see the exhibition Fjord=Travel. It tells the story of the coastal culture in Austerfjord. In addition we have a cafe, shop and tourist information.
Good old days on the farm, in the scenic surroundings of Presbakken. Salangen Country Museum lies nestled in beautiful and fertile farmland at Prestbakken in Upper Salangen. In the early 1700s people from Southern Norway moved here and cleared land for farming. The museum consists of seven buildings, all re-located to Prestbakken. The buildings include a farmhouse, barn, storehouse, sheds, smithy, and a mill. The farmhouse, known as Limostua, dates from the 1870s. A wonderful collection of around 1500 arifacts, primarly kitchen utensils, furniture, carpentry and farming tools, wagons, and an entire shoemaker`s workshop create an atmosphere not unlike thar in Hamsun`s book Growth of the Soil. Salangen Country Museum opens a door to farm life in the far North.
Photo tours, day trip or 1 week, where i show you epic scenery and the opportunities to take some stunning photos. Aurora and star hunting. Sleigh ride under the Northern Lights. Trip to Sagelven Caves. Moose safari and sea egle safari. From february 2017 See and Explore can offer hire of a Photo hide especially located for photographing Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles. Other visitors may include Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), Ravens and Crows. As this hide is located in a forested area with fir trees, you also may expect to observe Weasel and Mink. The hide can be used all year round but Eagles and other birds of prey are frequent guests all the way through to the end of April. We have regularly observed foxes by the hide and do not be surprised if a Wildcat or Wolverine appears in your lens.
