Kandos Museum Inc.

The coming of the 20th Century saw the birth of Australia. With her eyes firmly on the future this new nation would embrace the new, modern materials of steel and concrete to build and set itself on the path to prosperity. Railways, roads, buildings, dams, ships and bridges all sprang from steel and concrete, the materials that would come to define the 20th Century. And to make concrete you first need to make cement. Limestone, coal, ironstone, gypsum, sand, water and effort make cement. Cement made Kandos and Kandos made cement. Visit Kandos Museum and discover how this small town helped build a nation through its industry, people and artifacts. Kandos Museum is easy to find at the top of Jaques on Buchanan. Visit Kandos, the town that made the cement that made your town.

I do love museums. I've been to Kandos a few times, but had never been to the museum. My most recent trip I decided to check it out with my friends. Wow! I was blown away and annoyed that I'd neglected going here on my previous trips. There was so much more than I expected. Low entry fee and its run by volunteers. I wish I bought a tea towel when I was there (I heard them mention to my friend that this is their main source of income for the museum). I am currently making a purchase on their website to support them and as a couple of Christmas gifts. If you're driving aimlessly whilst stuck in NSW due to border closures, consider driving through Kandos and stopping here at the museum.
