We (hubby & I) traveled up to Baker Creek to purchase some heirloom seeds for our new summer gardening project on our way to our Anniversary Getaway. It’s off season so not much going on. The beds where ready for winter, but it was interesting reading the names on the markers. We were happier then June bugs on a cool summer evening when we walked into the seed store. Had to look at everything, and there was a lot!! Checked out the farm animals, and had an adventure in the restaurant. Since we are suburban dwellers and very new to gardening and all that vegan/vegetarian way of eating, it was a bit intimidating. But we consoled ourselves by chatting about plan B if we needed to go there. We were pleasantly surprised. They served roasted root veggies, a quinoa salad with amazingly crunchy radishes on the side. (We had to have those seeds!) and a stuffed cabbage roll. We forgot it was vegan until hubby spied a lentil in the stuffing. We would have never noticed otherwise. And now I’ve got a few new recipes that are picky eater approved. Thank you Bakers Creek for such a lovely relaxing day of new adventures.

After having read all of the books by Laura as well as those about her mother, grandmother, and daughter multiple times, I am very happy to have been able to bring one of my daughters to visit! She has been wanting to get here for a very long time! The Rock House and Rocky Ridge House and Museum are full of history!! Great to see the things Laura used in the last place she and Almanzo lived. So many things that made the stories come to life because you recognize them from reading her books!
