I wasn't sure of what to expect from Nordens Ark when i pulled up but i have to say i was very impressed. Set in beautiful Swedish countryside, next to a picturesque fjord, you can't help but be impressed with the wooden walkways which snake along cliffs, through wetland and cut through forest. You really feel like you are surround by nature rather than in some tacky commercialised theme park, as i have experienced with other zoo's. The picnic area by the wolves, is definitely recommended for a lunch time spot, as even though there is a cafe and the usual amenities you feel like you are in the middle of a deep forest... because you are and it is not over-developed enough to take this feeling away, this theme continues through the whole park. There is a fair bit of walking to do and if you want to see all the animals, you have to be a little patient and keep you eyes open, as unlike other zoo's the animals are not thrust in front of you. We managed to see 90% of the animals there and were very happy to have been the closest i have ever been to a tiger, (just a few meters away), whilst he chomped on some ribs. I recommend getting a cart from the entrance, we used it for our two children to sit in and and they loved it. Also recommended for children, is the farm within Nordens Ark. Our 4 year old and 1 year old loved the rabbits, sheep and pigs more than the tigers and leopards and there's lots there for the children to do, including hay jump (jumping from a ledge into a pile of hay), big slide and a pig tunnel, which i struggled to retrieve my 1 year old from, as she loved it so much. It was a beautiful sunny day when we visited and what a fun day we all had.

If you'd like to see the rough side of the Swedish West Coast, this is it - so much granite, beautiful. Very good for walking and having a picnic. By the North Sea.

Windswept by glittering sea and pink smooth little Islands you find this sculpture park. Free admission. On the north side you can swim in the sea, on the south side you find a seaside restaurant in Hunnebostrand. Why not bring a book? Stay at least half an hour, the sculptures are rather big, modern and touchable. This is a stone kingdom and here is a special creative spot.

I have come here many times every summer for many years. It is always a great pleasure - a fresh variety of all the treasures of the sea! Ask for the best daily offers and get your favorites. Different kinds of fish (the take away bones, just ask) and shellfish. Lovely ready made soup and different "mixes", perfect on bread. You find local honey, vegetables and strawberries here. You will hear the singing coastal dialect among people here. Busy place in the summer. Enjoy.
The station is located in the guest harbour of Hunnebostrand. Here you can refuel petrol and diesel throughout the whole year. During high season (approximately mid-June to early-August), the station is staffed with the availability to rent a boat, kayak, jet-ski or to purchase ice cream and coffee.
