Wind Horse Ranch and Riding club is a project rather a vision, seen collectively by Wind Horse Members. After meticulous planning into smallest details, this vision finally translated into reality in 2010. We started modestly with 3 horses, and grown into 7 horses for now and plans to make it to 15 horses by the end of 2013.It is located in scenic Tang Valley, Bumthang, Bhutan. The Farm land is being leased from Tang community. We have explored and carried out few trial runs. We have cleared some of the old trails, which were covered by overgrowth vegetation, due to minimal uses of the route. Our objectives are to provide enjoyable horse ride trek along scenic trails and villages both for tourists, as well as horse enthusiasts of Bhutan. We also hope to promote riding club membership as a fund raiser for good causes to the Bhutanese, and provide riding camps among the students and institutes in Bhutan. In doing, we hope that it will benefit local community by bringing more tourists, who would stay in the local farm houses and guest houses, use local food and services etc.
We just returned from a fabulous two weeks in Bhutan. Our guide Pema and driver Jumraj of Windhorse Tours were both excellent and made our trip extremely enjoyable. They were extremely accommodating and very knowledgeable. Bhutan is one of the prettiest places we have ever traveled to and we loved that we were able to meet the people and really get a very solid understanding of Buddhism and the tenants that the Bhutanese people live by. We found the people of the country to be extremely warm and friendly, especially the children. As Americans living in a very volatile America, we feel that we could learn a tremendous amount from the Bhutanese and the way they live their lives. I highly recommend Bhutan to anyone who likes to get off the beaten path and I highly recommend Wind horse Tours. You will not be disappointed!

Since we had two days at Bumthang, we kept one day for seeing the local tourists attractions. The attractions include Bumthang Dzong (one of the steepest climb to reach the place), all monasteries/temples, Golden temple (a relatively new one), etc. We visited Kurje Lakhang and spent some time here. There were very few tourists here and we enjoyed the serene beauty of the place. few monks were praying at the Lakhang.

Not far from the town center, guess around 20/30 minutes drive. It's a low waterfall and a lake inside a forest. The place is very sacred for Bhutanese people so please respect.

A great little craft brewery in Bumthang. Very small operation, really handmade. We even got to help glueing labels on the bottles. The brewmaster has a great sense of humor.
You MUST call ahead to arrange a tour. They are brewing some days of the week and will not do tours.
There is a charge for the tour but you get a Red Panda beer at the end. Worth it. Red Panda is a Weiss beer, unfiltered, yeast still in the bottle.

Small temple with some very interesting artwork and icons. While we were there the monks were worshiping with chanting and playing instruments. It was very moving to witness. Because the rooms are so small we were able to be real close to the action. The monks were also sorting donations and putting them in bags to be redistributed to families. It may have been the time of day, but the activity both inside and out made this place feel extremely vibrant
