Pacific Tree Climbing Institute

Located along the McKenzie river, nestled in foothills of the high cascades is the Pacific Tree Climbing Institute. Expert guides provide the unique experiences of listening and viewing to both dusk and dawn choruses from the canopy top. Much like a bird waking in its nest, you will find your self aloft in the old growth canopy checking birds off your list while seeing their habitat from a new perspective.

What an incredible find while vacationing on the McKenzie River! We weren't sure what we'd find as we turned off McKenzie Highway on a dirt road and followed it to the Museum. As luck would have it Mr. Ron Miner was working in the Museum and invited us in. What a wealth of artifacts and historical displays we enjoyed! The intimate size and perfectly curated displays were amazing. Ron Miner was kind enough to provide background information about the displays and provide historical information that made our tour especially interesting. We were so glad we went!

Went over the weekend and camped near by. The hike to the hot spring is about .20 miles. This is a clothing optional site so be prepared, especially if you’re taking kids. There is a $7.00, per person, so bring cash. Parking is easy right now with hwy129 being block. The only access is via hwy 58.
