In January this year I revisited one of my favourite towns in Antique. My interest in Spanish colonial architecture is the main reason for my visit. Anini-y has the only preserved colonial church in Antique. This gem of a church is the third built in the town. The first was probably built by Fr Hipólito Casiano, between 1630 and 38. A second church of much greater length but narrower was started around 1845. Fr Vaquerín was responsible for completing the present complex, including convent in 1879. The convent was almost totally demolished during the WW II, but the Mill Hill priest Fr. William Erickweld preserved the ruins while building a modern convent beside it. In 1973, the church roof and back wall were damaged by a typhoon, but Fr. Erickweld took pains to restore the church. The church belongs to 19th century revivalist styles, incorporating traditional elements from the Baroque style. The three-story bell tower is attached to the church; its lowest floor is quadrilateral while the upper floors are hexagonal. The grounds are green with luscious vegetation and to the west lies the Sea of Mindoro. The smell and taste of the sea is in the air. In the distance you can see Nogas Island. It’s a wonderful day out. If your looking to eat - take something with you.

The dive experience is superb! Esp for first-timers and non-swimmers like me. Staff was really cool, dive instructors were so hands-on, and the whole weekend getaway was worthwhile!! I almost drowned the first day but the second day, i managed to overcome panic when i figured i was alone going back to the shore.
