My husband and I both ride and have our own Harleys and when travelling across country we always pass this place, but never had time to stop. Finally we penciled it in to stop here with our 9 & 12 yr olds. Nice musuem and amazing how many different bikes are in here. Our favorite part was the Harleys and Celebrity bikes. Sort of wish they woud include a tad more of the "history" part, but aside from that, it is fascinating regardless! Loved the hill climbing video and display. I wonder why this isn't done anymore? Maybe it is? I enjoyed it, as did the kids! I knew there was a Groupon coupon available, but my phone was not having it. It was $10 for adult (over age 12) and I think under 12 is free. It might be nice if they offered a slightly reduced rate for the "older" kids, but it was still worth the $30 for us to see it. Look for a Groupon!! The guy running the booth seemed a little stiff and brash which I thought was a surprise since most "biker" people are way more laid back and not so stiff. :) LOL That's minor, he was nice, just a bit serious. Loved that they had LOTS of motorcycle parking (even though we had our cage - we still appreciate a good cycle-lot!)

This is a small museum next to an architectural marvel, a prison built over a period of 70 years by inmates using stone from local quarries. The museum staff were helpful and walked us through the exhibits answering questions about the history of the Anamosa State Penitentiary, day-to-day prison life, and famous criminals who did time there. Definitely worth the small admission charge and highly recommended.

The river has a low dam right below an old bridge over the river. There is a single lane asphalt road going through the park and running beside the river. The water is running fast and deep today. It is a great canoeing river. There are high rock bluffs covered in moss and trees.
