There are five sets of temples on this mountain side. They are all well worth it and you can't just call it quits after the third one. Along the way - between the 3rd/4th one - you will also be able to get up close to some bubbling craters and sulfuric vents. They are not dangerous, just be smart about it. After the fifth temple, there is also a viewing station to get a proper vista of the town below and the mountains above you (with temples mixed in between). This is definitely worth the 2/3 minute trudge - which, after making it past temple 5 in the hear, you'll question if you should.

We drove a car directly from Semarang airport, it was easy to find this place guided by google map. This is actually an old railway station, that is already closed. Maybe because I was a train commuter, I did enjoy visiting this museum. Not much you can find there: some old locomotives and train wagons, old ticket machines, old uniform. I also enjoyed seeing photos and writings about the brief train history in Indonesia. My kids were so excited to see old train wagons made of wood. They played how to change the railway direction. We also checked on how they turn the locomotive in old time. My boy was very happy to run back and forth the empty railway. The main attraction in this museum is that you can ride old train (train wagon made of wood and diesel locomotive) from this station to another station towards the mountain. Come early in the morning, we arrived around 9am, and we get the last ticket, without seats (you have to buy entrance ticket, then buy train ticket inside the museum). But we did enjoy the ride at the connection between the 2 train wagons. The sights were beautiful. The whole trip took about 30 minutes: 10 minutes going up, 10 minutes turn the locomotive, 10 minutes going back. Bring your own breakfast dan lunch, you can have a picnic while waiting. There is also a train library, they have activies for children, while adult can read some history books. There were nice photo spots as well.
