Mafia Island Diving is Mafia Island's leading dive centre and the only one officially rated PADI 5 stars and SSI Diamond. It is run by a PADI/SSI Master Instructor and a PADI MSDT. We make a point for all our dive guides to be at least Divmasters. We offer the widest range of water and land based activities. Our dive sites are suitable for both beginners and advanced certified divers. We also offer PADI and SSI's full range of courses, from Discover Diving to Assistant Instructor and 9 different specialities. Divers and non-divers alike can also enjoy snorkelling, whale sharks excursions, whale watching, turtle hatching, birdwatching, island tours & picnics, jeep tours and much more.

We dove with Big Blu scuba, which had good boats and very knowledgeable guides. The best site was Pinnacles with giant groupers, turtles, stingrays and other amazing fish. Being a protected marine park makes all the difference.

Kitu Kiblu: Responsible Marine Encounters offers half-day trips to individuals and groups who wish to view and hopefully swim with whale sharks, learn about their biology and ongoing conservation issues and efforts. Your itinerary: pick up at 6am from hotel, breakfast and educational briefing, whale shark search on a traditional sailing dhow, snorkeling, return to camp for showers & debrief!
My daughter and I went out three days with Kitu Kiblu and were able to snorkel with the same whale shark two of the three days! Kitu Kiblu are very professional and the guides very experienced and helpful! They picked us up at the lodge each day and provided a nice breakfast and briefing on what to expect when going out on the water. The crew did a nice job running the dhow and were constantly watching for whale sharks. The most impressive thing was the aspect of "responsible marine encounters". They make sure to give the sharks plenty of space so they don't get stressed from the human interaction, something we noticed the other operators don't necessarily care about. We highly recommend Kitu Kiblu!
