While there is no dearth of spa resorts and wellness clinics in Slovakia, the best place to experience holistic spa culture is Poprad, the gateway to the High Tatras. In the heart of the city lies AquaCity complex, powered entirely by geothermal water and solar energy. Not just visitors from neighbouring countries travel to Poprad to pamper themselves with a stay here, but every year the Manchester United junior team spends a month here rejuvenating themselves from a hectic football season. From the queen of London to the legends of football such as Messi, Ronaldo; all have stayed here. The complex has dozens of thermal pools, both indoor and outdoor, an Olympic size swimming pool and performance areas. Studded with over ten different kinds of saunas and steam rooms, each room in the Sauna Zone offers something unique - herbal saunas fused with floral aromatherapy, infrared chromotherapy with colourful lights changing now and then for rhythmic healing, salt sauna filled with the goodness of Himalayan salts and minerals, Finnish dry sauna with Viking fire, the ceremonial sauna with fire and water show and many more. There is even a cold sauna to provide a contrast to the heat and give a massive boost to your body recovery. All of these steam rooms and saunas are connected by a system of interconnected pools and private jacuzzis. There is even a waterfall shower that throws a mighty cascade of water down your shoulders and back better than any massage!
