I prefer this to Ocean Shores (which is easier to get to), and all of the places I've visited on the Oregon Coast. This is an unpretentious, middle class coastal town, with spectacular beach and deep American history + good quality restaurants and accommodation. Family friendly for sure, but also nice for romance-couples time. It is a long drive from Seattle, but FAB when you get there. I suspect this might actually be a cool place to actually live in too (and not all tourist towns are). Thumbs up.

Discovery Trail (paved) along the Pacific Ocean Front from Longbeach, WA (North) to Ilwaco, WA (South), limited to bicycles, pedestrains/strollers, dog/pet walks. No horses or motor vechicles allowed. The Discovery Trail goes by Cape Disappointment State Park and two Lighthouses near there. On May 16, 1898, the North Head Lighthouse was put into service as the primary navigation aid at the mouth of the Columbia River. The Cape Disappointment Lighthouse had served this function since October 15, 1856; however, ships continued to run aground at the "Graveyard of the Pacific." AWESOME FUN TRAIL for a bike ride on a fair weather (sunny) day. The area is known for FOG & Cold Rainy Weather (which contributed to a number of shipwrecks over the last 165 years). Discovery Trail is accessible from a number of locations, including 1000 Trails RV (TTRV) Longbeach Campground in Seaview, WA.

It was a great place to learn about the local industry of growing and harvesting cranberries. The cranberry festival was going on a few miles down the road and we got to watch the actual harvest happening.

We were looking to see a movie, now that the theaters just opened. We came upon Neptune in our travels and loved it. Newly painted, inside and out, it was charming with all the Disney scenes. The staff was very welcoming and the popcorn freshly made.
