The church is set on the top of Long Melford Green just to the side of Kentwell Hall - also well worth a visit, along with Melford Hall (National Trust) just across the road. This church is stunning and with the lovely lady chapel at the end is the largest church in the country that isn't a Cathedral. The beautiful stain glass windows tell a story and include characters from Alice in Wonderland and Beatrix Potter. (Melford Hall is where Beatrix Potter used to stay with her animals and they house the original Jemima Puddleduck.) The church has guided tours and a shop. Ensure you visit this beautiful church on your walk around Long Melford - so many stay on the High Street and don't go any further than the bridge opposite the Bull Hotel. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside where you can walk for miles.

Nethergate Brewery was born in 1986, in the small town of Clare, in Suffolk. Like many great ideas it, was conceived in a pub between two friends, one a businessman and the other a Microbiologist...the perfect team to set a brewery up. We brew high quality distinctive beers and are very proud to have won 40+ significant regional, national and international awards including twice winning Champion Winter Beer of Britain. We have a fantastic range of permanent beers complemented by an interesting and innovative seasonal range (all of which can be bought in our online store). We use ingredients such as coriander, lemon and ginger in our beers to create what we think are some of the tastiest beers around. When we're not brewing we are partial to sampling our beer, so we look forward to seeing you for a pint sometime!
Excellent would recommend this tour to anyone, we all had a great day. And was made very welcome. A fantastic selection of beers made on sight.

It's a fascinating house and well worth exploring. To our delight and surprise Beatrice Potter, author of the 'Peter Rabbit' stories was a regular visitor. A fireplace and several pieces of furniture provided the inspiraion for the details in many of her drawings. Melford Hall is located only a few minutes drive from Lavenham and the two places offer interesting and contrasting visits.
